You know it had to happen....

Next year, it will all be different I promise.

No complaints from me - the rules are the rules.

Congrats to GIRNT who was much more consistent throughout the season and deserves to be in the 'Superbowl' (but I'm also happy to have a sort of moral victory... )

My biggest error was letting Rashad Jennings go...

Congratulations to Nick Clark and his Chingford Gingers for winning the title.

For the rest of us it's a case of back to the drawing board. Thanks also to Rick Spangle for all his work. Looking forward to next year.

Congrats to the Chingford Gingers! :D Thanks to Rick Spangle for organising and the write-ups - I really enjoy this league because it's well organized and the deepest of deep competitions! I'll be back next year.

SEASON REVIEW

Chingford Gingers.
Bumped along for most of the season at never better or worse than one game off .500 - but from week 12, when they needed to win 3 straight to get into the playoffs, they did just that - and then breezed through the playoffs with 2 comfortable wins. Last years cellar-dwellers are this years champions - that's parity for you - congratulations to Chingford Gingers!

Get It Right Next Time.
After a slow 0-2 start, GIRNT went on an 8-game winning streak. They split the last 4 games but managed to hold on to the division crown in what turned out to be the strongest division. As top seeds, they then scraped past the wildcard X-Men in the semifinal before falling to the Gingers at the last hurdle. Almost living up to their team name!

Barry Crockers.
2-3 after 5 weeks, Barry Crockers then went on a 6-1 run to take pole position in their division, a title confirmed with their week 14 win over Caracas Firecrackers. Lost in the semifinal to the eventual champs Chingford Gingers, but bronze medal position on the podium.

X-Men.
It was a two-horse race from quite early on in the Western division between the X-Men and Get It Right Next Time - X-Men losses in two of the last three weeks of the regular season pushed them back into the wildcard spot rather than the division winners. This meant giving their opponents (who happened to be their division rivals) the 10-point start which turned out to be crucial as they lost by only 6. The less said about the 3rd/4th place matchup the better...

Fulchester Fish.
Alternate wins and losses through the first 12 weeks of the season left them too much to do to win the division or the wildcard, but they came home with a wet sail winning the last two games of the regular season to finish 8-6 and then two more wins in the consolation ladder to book the #1 draft spot for next year.

Bruschi 54s.
Got off to a nice 3-0 start but three losses between weeks 9-11 put them in a position where they had to win the last game of the season and hope for other results - but a loss in that game put then out. 1-1 on the consolation games ladder didn't really make much difference.

Putney Gooners.
Another team to alternate wins and losses through most of the season, but in the strongest of the three divisions they needed a bit more than that. Two losses in weeks 13 and 14 sealed their fate, but two wins in the consolation ladder games improved their draft spot a bit for next year.

Forest Tigers.
Definitely the team with the streakiest record. 5-0 to start the season was followed by 3 losses, then three more wins to put them in a position where just 1 more win from the last 3 games was needed for the division crown. Sadly, all three were lost, and to compound the problems both ladder games ended in defeat to drop the Tigers into a placing quite a bit lower than they would have hoped for 5 or 6 weeks ago.

Portsmouth Pirates.
It was all going reasonably OK, if not wonderful, after 7 weeks for last years champs - then a miserable run of 6 losses meant finishing with a disappointing 4-10 record. From 11th place on the season ending table, they did manage to lift themselves a few places due to 2 consolation games wins.

Crystal Tipps.
The other sufferer in the strong Western Division - 5-6 after 11 weeks might still have been a workable platform in either of the other two divisions but by this time, Get It Right Next Time and X-Men had already disappeared over the horizon. Tipps ended up with 2 wins in the regular season to bring their record to .500, but lost both consolation games to fall a couple of spots in the ladder.

Cornish Tinners.
A 2-5 start for the Tinners meant their season never really got going. A run of three wins in weeks 11-13 left them in with a chance of a 7-7 record going into week 14, but they suffered a close loss against the eventual champions Chingford Gingers.
Lost their first consolation game, and only a win in the second game against the hapless Caracas Firecrackers kept them off the bottom this year.

Caracas Firecrackers.
Sadly, the wooden spoon for the new boys, hampered by a poor roster throughout the season. An 0-7 start doesn't hold out much hope for post season play - oddly enough, one of the Firecrackers only 2 wins on the season came against champions Gingers.

Next years draft order.

#1 Fulchester Fish
#2 Bruschi 54s
#3 Putney Gooners
#4 Forest Tigers
#5 Portsmouth Pirates
#6 Crystal Tipps
#7 Cornish Tinners
#8 Caracas Firecrackers
#9 X-Men
#10 Barry Crockers
#11 Get It Right Next Time
#12 Chingford Gingers

And that's it for another season! Thanks to everyone for playing - hope to see you all again next year - and a happy Christmas and New Year to you all.
