2017 SBru World SEVENS - Champion: MickMacP
Hi All
You've played SuperBru Rugby Prediction competitions before, but this one is a little different ... it comprises of a number of Rounds (around 11) during the year (Starting in DUBAI on DECEMBER 2nd). Each round is a standalone competition (similar to the SuperBru Golf competitions) but I combine all Rounds into one overall World Sevens Rugby Prediction Championship.
Previous Champions in the limited life of this competition are:
2015-16: Mick MacPaddywack : History of that year here
2014-15: Mick MacPaddywack : History of that year here
What we are lacking here is MORE COMPETITORS ... so feel free to give it a go if you haven't done before this. The more that sign up, the merrier ....
Pool name: FISO World Sevens
Pool code: casecant.

2016-17 SBru World Sevens Championship
I'll try & put some helpful info here for those new to this game ... to begin with, I'll paste what I provided last year & update it later if I get the chance.
This game is a little different from the other Rugby Prediction games that we play, this is run over 10 weekends*, with each weekend being a stand-alone competition. However your points from each competition also accumulate for the overall championship.
Each Round can be tricky when the competition is in a time zone 12 hours ahead or behind yours, and making your day 2 (Sunday) predictions before the fixtures are finalised can be a bit of a gamble.
Its fun though, and I recommend it, so give it a go & enjoy.
The best reference material I can provide is:
Wikipedia gives a good overview/history of the comp here
and better again, the Official HSBC website here
(What is beautiful about this second link is that you can watch the competition (all matches) live if you wish. )
The 10 weekends are covered on the HSBC website above, namely:
Dubai (Dec 2-3) - Holder: 3 way tie 16 Metal Warlord, 15 Metal Warlord, McBear, Surprised; 14 McBear
SouthAfrica (Dec 10-11) - Holder: 16 MickMacP; 15 Stokie Bloke; 14 MMP
NewZealand (Jan 28-29) - Holder: 16 Sport Billy; 15 MMP & Metal Warlord
Australia (Feb 4-5) - Holder: 16 Metal Warlord
USA (Mar 3-5) - Holder: 16 McBear; 15 MMP & Surprised
Canada (Mar 11-12) - Holder: 16 MickMacP
Japan (not 2017) - Holder:15 Trampie & Metal Warlord
Hong Kong (Apr 7-9) - Holder: 16 Sport Billy; 15 Trampie
Singapore (Apr 15-16) - Holder: 16 McBear
Scotland (not 2017) - Holder:15 Metal Warlord
France (May 13-14) - Holder: 16 MickMacP
London (May 20-21) - Holder: 16 McBear; 15 MickMacP
Cheers

2016-17 SBru World Sevens - Abu Dhabi won by Metal Warlord
Round 1 of the Rugby Sevens was based in Abu Dhabi and the first skin goes to Metal Warlord
Metal Warlord had a good first round of 21 followed by a very lucky second round of 17. Given that he made no picks on day 2, the default picks kicked in.
Default kicks are limited to 25 in the competition from my understanding, although they are intended to help people who struggle with the time-zones or forgetting to pick early enough rather than a complete now show.
Hopefully those who didn't participate can find the time to participate in the next round which starts this week-end in South Africa.
Good luck all ...

Re: 2016-17 SBru World Sevens - Capetown won by Mick
Round 2 of the Rugby Sevens was based in Capetown and the second skin goes to MickMacP,
but only on the application of the countback rule (highest last day score, highest score in final, semi-final, etc) was Metal Warlord pipped (bad luck, mate).
Next round starts at the end of January in Wellington,NZ.

Round 4 of the Rugby Sevens was based in Sydney and the fourth skin goes to StokieBloke,
who was the clear winner with 31 points, followed closely by TheoVodkat and Boddington.
Of note ... MetalWarlord ran out of default picks, and crashed on day2 (bad luck there, mate).

Re: 2017 SBru WORLD SEVENS - Champion: MickMacP
Overall Series Champion : MickMacP by the skin of his teeth ... bad luck to Metal Warlord who had one hand on the Trophy, until a poor performance on the Final day in London played into MickMacPs hands.
