Estate Gazette - Fantasy RWC 2015

Post by Ashers »

The Estates Gazette Fantasy Rugby game is based on the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Your team will score Fantasy Points based on all matches in the competition.

Points scoring will start with the first matches of the competition played at 20:00 (BST) on the 18th September 2015 and will run through to the last game played on the 31st October 2015.

You will receive a fantasy budget to create your own Fantasy Rugby Team consisting of players from the real-life Rugby World Cup squads. Your Fantasy team will then receive fantasy points for the real-life performances of your selected players.

You can join the game at any point throughout the competition, however you will not score points until your team has been submitted. You may only enter 1 team per entrant. Any entrant found to have entered more than 1 team will be disqualified and removed from the game.

Lots of teams have made transfers today but not been charged.

Have tried to contact SM but keep getting logged out. Wondered how long it would take for the problems to begin!

Gotta love it, the leader has now made more than the number of changes allowed this round - going on usual SM rules from the past he should be thrown out, but it's anyone's guess what will happen as the 'Contact Us' form is still not working.

Finally got through - they are looking into it.

Others have followed the leader in making more than the 5 permitted changed as well now - hopefully something will happen to all at fault.

TBH not everyone monitors things like you !

Their decision to unwind the transfers is far more unfair than letting things stand.

With four different sets of RWC fantasy rules I (for one)just followed what it said I had left - as a consequence I had no captain playing Sunday - its their cock up and as a consequence has just ruined the entire competition for me and many others. You make it sound like we're to blame !

It has been brought to our attention that there was an issue with some of the transfer allocations given to teams within the Estates Gazette Fantasy Rugby game. Some teams, including yours, had been allocated more than the 5 weekly transfers allowed.
After investigation we have come to the conclusion that all transfers over the 5th would have to be removed and reverted back to the player you originally had. In some instances this has led to teams total points being affected. Some totals have increased and some may have decreased.
We apologise if this has had a negative effect on your team but this decision has been made purely to ensure that the game is fair and fun for everyone involved.
We wish you all the best for the rest of the competition and hope you enjoy playing the remaining weeks of the game.
Best regards,
Dan Cooper

Justice done in my opinion - don't ever mind losing, but it's never right to do so to those who have been given an unfair advantage, accidental or otherwise.

Don't buy it for one second that most of those who used more than the 5 transfers didn't know what they were doing - looks like you were one of the unlucky ones Topspur to get swept up in the SM error.

Not totally sure that this was in the t and c's at the start of competition, but it's there now ...

5.14 This competition is only open to those within the property industry. A relevant email address will be required to be entered into the competition and to be eligible to play. Anyone who does not satisfy this criteria will forfeit their chance to win prizes.

.. one of my businesses is at least related, but am guessing that many will have wasted time playing this game. Unless someone can prove otherwise (screengrab of original terms etc), I would suspect that this term has been added since start of the competition.

This won't be the first time that this has happened with a sm/chroma competition (and similar happened with a fantasyleague run game a couple of years back, though not before i'd snagged a couple of bottles of champagne for monthly prizes, yay), but is always annoying, and there's little or no recourse.

Very sneaky. It wasn't there at the outset but a change in T&C's midway through a SM comp is nothing new.

Doesn't matter too much to me as I run a property business but imagine many will be well miffed.

I, like Topspur am doing several fantasy RWC competitions, all with different rules which is very difficult to keep track on.
I have also just returned from a wonderful 10 day holiday in Portugal where I struggled without my spreadsheet and so had to rely on the Estates RWC website.
It did appear strange that that I appeared to have 2 extra transfers available in the last round, but I checked the Kippies and Coke team (that was top) which also had 7 so I presumed everyone had.

I have just returned to find that Chroma in resolving their error have deducted 114 points from my team and cancelled my last 2 transfers which were Allen (Italy) and Goromaru (Japan) who scored under 40 pts between them

Not only has it messed my team up as I was originally leaving Carter in for the next round but they have subtracted a totally unrepresented amount of points and have not responded to any of my emails except for the standard response that Topspur also received.

I am not too bothered about having the prize taken away as it is only a bit of fun, but it has ruined my team for the rest of the competition and taken the fun out of it - especially as I have spent hours planning my teams from the start.

I mean, how hard can it be when your only job is to run a fantasy competition, which is what your company does for a living.
Then to practically call people cheaters who had absolutely nothing to do with Chroma's incompetence is a disgrace.

In my case they gave me 2 transfers 'extra' after I rightly complained that making 2 transfers had taken 4 transfers from my round total. They then appear to have taken them back along with the same message as topspur etc got along with a random number of points. I've had no reply to my mail asking them what they have done and when I'll get my points back, obviously.
