2017 SBru Mitre10 (NZ) Cup - round 6: Theo Vodkat leads

Post by Mick MacPaddywack »

I found this is a difficult one, but interesting ... two conferences with teams playing between conferences ...
9 weeks competition followed by Semi Final / Finals (11 weeks in total).

Wikipedia covers the format quite well (I've just discovered) here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_ITM_Cup.

All comers welcome ... not easy, but interesting ... gives you a heads up on the talent we only get to hear about in the Rugby World Cup or internationals. I've set up a FISO League ...

ITM Cup also looking good ...

Asdral225 (PacificNationsCup Prediction Champ 2015 and therefore with Southern Hempisphere form) takes an early lead ...
Image

wk2: Trampie and McBear show they mean business ...
Image

wk1: Strong starts from Asdral225, Metal Warlord and Stokie Bloke

week 3 provides good showing from McBear and Metal Warlord, both of whom pick up 2 bonus points each from guessing the highest margins of victory (well, 3 of the 4 bonus points anyway) ... interesting  ...

Image

Image

with the small number of fixtures each week these margin points and bonus points are vital ...
McBear, Asdral225 and Metal Warlord are dominating these points so far, but its tight at the top between these three ...

Post by Mick MacPaddywack »

week 4 has Metal Warlord putting in a good showing, and leapfrogging McBear and Asdral225.
These three are now way ahead of the rest, and we all need to address the issue sooner rather than later ...
Image

Yellow Cap goes to Metal Warlord
Image
both he and McBear predict 7 out of 8 outcomes correctly ... nice

Re: 2015 SBru ITM (NZ) Cup - tight at the top ... MetalWarlord leads

Post by Mick MacPaddywack »

week 5 Yellow cap goes to Stokie Bloke and its tight at the top with three within 1.50 of each other. Stokie Bloke's good week helps him close the gap on these three.
Image

The leaderboard analysis makes interesting reading ... the top 3 have good Win Points (27+) but what really seems to make the difference is the Bonus Points. Stokie Bloke has almost double anybody else (11) and anybody 4th or lower has less than 3 Bonus Points ...
Image

So getting the margin points is important, but not nearly as important as the Bonus Points (nearest guess).

week10 - Semi Finals has McBear sneak back in front of Metal Warlord again ....
but with only one round (Finals) remaining, its all down to picking the margin (assuming y'all guess the winner)
and if form is anything to go by it might be worth noting that
Metal Warlord has scored more Margin Points than McBear

meanwhile, asdral225 hopes to hang onto his podium spot,
but Stokie Bloke is not finished yet, with another Yellow Cap to his name and a storming performance in the penultimate week ...

After week4 of this short competition, it is Metal Warlord out in front with a consistently high weekly score, closely followed by usual suspect Trampie and yours truly.

Another 5 weeks before Semi & Finals, so still all to play for ...

week 7 honours are shared by Trampie and McBear.
The new league leader Trampie who vaults into the lead with this week's result looks good at present (as he does across many SBru competitions currently) but last years Champ and current holder Metal Warlord is not giving this Cup up easily ...

Re: 2016 SBru ITM/Mitre10 (NZ) Cup - week 8 is Asdral's yellow cap

Post by Mick MacPaddywack »

week 8 was Asdral225's pleasure. Asdral225 is probably trying to nick the 3rd place podium spot from MickMacP and best of luck to him, but there is no medal for 3rd in SuperBru when the league is this small so its all just a matter of honour & Mick won't give it up easily ...

No change in Leadership with Trampie beginning to look secure as we near the end of this comp ...

week 9 was MickMacP's honour as he bit back to keep his 3rd place secure. Trampie increased his lead on MetalWarlord for the third consecutive week ... it looks like week 7 was the turning point in this competition

Trampie looks home and hosed ... yet again ?

2016 SBru ITM/Mitre10 (NZ) Cup - Winner: TRAMPIE

Post by Mick MacPaddywack »

Well, although this sounds like repeating myself a bit ... The Semi-Final and Finals produced no major surprises, and TRAMPIE romped home in this competition too, making it a clean sweep of the THREE Southern Hemisphere competitions by Trampie. Hat off to you, mate ... we are going to have to make sure that never happens again

Image

The previous holder MetalWarlord was unable to close the gap from second place, but picked up a respectable silver medal for his efforts. MickMacP in third place gets no medal (in SuperBru) because the group was too small.

So yet another Trophy goes to TRAMPIE, CONGRATS!!

Roll on 2017 & the defence of three titles !!
