Disagree. I watched the match on TV and said at the time he was the best player on the pitch. If anything I would say being there puts you at a disadvantage as you don't have as good a view
Sorry, but you're wrong there - there's a reason why Sven attends games rather than watching them on TV, and its because you can see the full span of the game so much better from in the stands. Sure, on TV you have close-ups etc, but when the camera pans away from Terry its not like he just stands there, and stops playing.

You get a much fuller picture of how good a player is by actually being at a game.

I've just checked the KCs on TTF (not easy with two complete sets of fixtures included in the stats). All Saturday's are exactly as predicted, while there is an additional KC for Jenas (for Defoe's first goal from memory) on Sunday. Both posts have been updated to show confirmed stats.

Sven attends games because (a) he gets free tickets and (b) he has nothing better to do (apart from speak to reporters and have affairs - not both at the same time I assume)

MOM's are awarded for an "outstanding contribution to a game"

Not "sound positional sense" when ball is at other end of pitch

A bit late now but do you think we should all chip in to get Sven a Sky Sports subscription?

As I've previously pontificated, I agree wholeheartedly with treebeard - watching on telly is no substitute for being there. I take it no-one's suggesting the Telegraph reporters stay at home to judge man-of-the match decisions when a game's on Sky?

Being at a game the view isn't always as brilliant and you can't always tell who is who etc. Therefore those who you recognise easier (the big names or those whose 'style' you spot) will obviously stand out more. Therefore more MOTM awards for known players and recognised English 'stars'.

I don't suppose the copious amounts of alcohol I tend to consume before games helps my judgement (you need it to watch Saints, believe me)
