Vidic did play well, but Cashley could be in with a shout, handled Fake very well, and put in some great tackles

Here I am again, organ in hand. I bring you the official MOTMs from a freshly minted and still-warm copy of tomorrow's Daily Telegraph:

Rio Ferdinand
Dimitar Berbatov
Andy Reid
Kieron Dyer
Kevin Doyle
Hayden Mullins
Steven Gerrard
George Boateng
Nicolas Anelka

I will now go and show the organ to the missus. She likes the crossword.

Most seem fair enough, how many has Reid had this year in a struggling team??

Rio is the main surprise

Thank you Tony, hope the wife enjoys the crossword!

Gotta say, these MotMs are pretty lazy. I suppose in most cases correct but I think almost all of those could be picked by someone who watched the 10 seconds of each match you get on a news roundup.

Seems an important goal = man of the match.

All my hopes are dashed then - I got too excited with getting my 2nd MoM this season!

Strange though, don't usually put the Sunday Telegraph reports up.

This could be the day my predictions go pear shaped. Several debateable KCs on Sunday, but in all cases I feel that the number of players taken out by the pass outweighs any extra work done by the scorer. Hopefully TFFO won't keep us waiting too long. [They did  ]

*** Now confirmed on TFFO ***

Man United 1-1 Chelsea
Saha (Rooney)
Carvalho (Lampard)

Newcastle 1-0 Portsmouth
Sibierski (Martins, N'Zogbia)

Tottenham 3-1 Wigan
Camara (Wright, McCulloch)
Defoe (Berbatov)
Berbatov (-)
Lennon (Berbatov)

I stayed up for your expert opinion, and im very grateful for it. Especially since you've given Rooney and Ekotto assists. Im going to ignore your worries, and goto sleep happy. 8-)

Saw Berbatov's goal once on Sky at half-time in ManU-Chelsea, can't see an Ekotto KC for the life of me (although I'd be delighted if it was given!). Also don't think Rooney will get one, Saha's shot was on the borderline of where they give KCs, and he had held the ball for a while and did a lot himself.

I thought Vidic or Ronaldo would have got that motm.

Ferdinand did nothing wrong and was solid but Vidic was far more the standout of the pairing.

And for me the MOTM should have been either Carrick who definitely made the difference for Man U or Carvhalho who was solid, contained Rooney pretty well and scored (I'm guessing the Saha goal is going against him, but I don't think he did anything awful there, Saha just came up with a cracking shot).

This is part of the problem with MOTM. For some matches, there is a player who clearly stands out and you bear no grudges with him getting 3 extra points (especially if you happen to have him!).

However, for matches such as Man Utd v Chelsea yesterday, there was nobody on the pitch who really stood out and so the reporter ends up choosing just one of the many players who had a solid game (Ferdinand). On the other hand, watching Pool bv Man City, it was clear to everyone that Gerrard was by far the best player on display.

although alan green said that kuyt was easily man of the match. so it's never that straightforward.

I'll have a rare bet against Bramernic's judgement and say Rooney doesn't get a KC.

I know he is more expert than me but I thought there was a rule of thumb for first time shots outside the box and D not getting KCs. Saha received the ball a bit outside the D so even if he'd shot first time then little chance of a KC. Therefore doing the little work on top of that must make it leven ess chance of a KC. Having said that GFM/TFF are tending to be more generous these days....

Time will tell.

I would also be doubtful of a Rooney KC. For me it was the fact that Saha almost stopped dead as he took aim, seemed to me that signalled a whole new passage of play.

The counter arguement is that it was Rooney and they gave him a KC for a simple pass out wide a few weeks back when Scholes scored so he's clearly a favoured player.

I'm hoping they are already full of Christmas spirit inspired generosity and there is a KC for Kuyt on the way then too! ;)
