uppompei's Kirkland idea has merit, but having done the same as La Rep myself last week, and Captained Drogba rather than Ronaldo because Chelsea were facing "little"Charlton, MU were against "bigger" Tot,and paid a heavy price for that choice,I can't see beyond RONALDO at home to Charlton this week.
If he delivers the goods again and I'd voted for anyone else,I'd not forgive myself !

That's another interesting suggestion uppompei, assuming we bring Arteta in, which is almost certain now that Everton's double GW27 has been confirmed.
I'm not going to propose him though,as I'm not sure Arteta even playing twice will score more than Ronaldo playing once, given his recent form.
On the other hand,Arteta playing twice would provide some insurance against the possibility of Ronaldo not playing at all. I'm just wondering if Fergy might think of resting him against Charlton ? We can do without a non-playing Captain.
mmm...this has got me thinking that there's a lot of merit in Arteta's case for Captaincy;I haven't changed my mind about Ronaldo just yet,and I've got him down as Capt in my own team, but I've also got Arteta......
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.......
I think ARTETA for Captain should be in the poll, assuming that we buy him

I suppose there is an argument for the gamble since we need to try and make ground on the other teams above us. I wouldn't do that gamble myself but then I keep forgetting how far LRdF is behind my team in the ratings!uppompei wrote:I have gone for Arteta if not ronaldo!!
I believe a double has to be gambled on when possible.

Whoa there!grob wrote:Yes,I'd noticed that - a "head cold" apparently. I expect he'll shake it off.
If not, from the point of few of many of our individual teams as well as La Rep,let's hope Bridge is ready to step into the breach ! Maureen speaking with forked tongue about that prospect,it seems from reports tonight.
That's ambiguous, mate ......
When you say he speaks with forked tongue .... last I read was that Bridge would play ..... are you saying this is wrong?

The "head cold" remark was a reference to Ronaldo; as to Bridge,he's denoted doubtful on FPL and elsewhere, but my interpretation was the same as yours, that he WILL be fit to play, but Mourinho doesn't want it to appear that he could really have played for England this week after all.
I've incurred 4 penalty points in my own team this week, bringing in an extra player I would not have done but for previous reports that Bridge would only return approx 21 Feb(incl Fiso injury thread),just in time for Chelsea's CL fixture with Porto on 23 Feb, so in my own team,Bridge is on my bench and would come on if Ronaldo's head cold doesn't respond well to the snowy conditions in Manchester, though he could always wear a black balaclava to match his woollen gloves,I suppose .
I just hate throwing away 4 points unnecessarily, when Mourinho must have known all along that Bridge would be fit for tomorrow(if he plays !)
However,La Rep have him raring to go,with able subs ready and waiting !

Ah! Thank F for that! There's a post in the Specialist Team Knowledge thread where Mourinho says Bridge is fit ..... so you really had me worried!grob wrote:The "head cold" remark was a reference to Ronaldo; as to Bridge,he's denoted doubtful on FPL and elsewhere, but my interpretation was the same as yours, that he WILL be fit to play, but Mourinho doesn't want it to appear that he could really have played for England this week after all.
Phew!
That's it for me for tonight.
Good luck tomorrow, grob, and all members (other than those I'm locked against in any comps, natch. ).
