Looks like a bit of "heart over head" has helped me get through this round!

The only difference was my Shakhtar Donetsk, which Celtic67 decided to ignore and go for the riskier Schalke option instead.

With Celtic's away reputation!!

A reminder for anyone has hasn't picked for this midweeks Matchday 14, deadline is 7pm tonight.
There are some 'easy looking' Carling Cup fixtures to pick from (remember there are no draws in these games) or you can nip accross the channel for a set of Spanish/Italian fixtures.

Already noted, but thanks again.

At the moment there are:
65 from Set 1
47 from Set 2
42 from Set 3

I've gambled on the Set 2 Carling Cup games myself. 8-)

I normally like Carling Cup sets because of the "no draws" value, but really didn't like the look of these fixtures so I've gone for set 3 as well. This matchday could be a key one with such a split between the sets, let's hope not too many 7x in the cup games!

Congrats to Jester who was the only person to pick Espanyol away at Sevilla. Sevilla were one of the set 3 favourites for a home win.

I also have West Ham and Villa but Charlton let me down last night. I am now hoping for quite the opposite just to stop everyone else getting a Snowy.

Well done Leicester! I don't say that too often but they've saved a few of my D2 rivals from recording 7x.

Shame Milan appear to have messed up my Champions Cup hopes, will have to settle for 3 trophies now...

We won't be too far off having a Division 8 next season! Looks like there won't be quite enough teams after drop-outs unless there are a few late joiners/inactive teams restarting, but maybe it could happen the season after that?

A new Division 8 has been inching closer the last few seasons, it could happen at the end of next season. We'll need a few new teams though, so if there's anyone out there that wants to join in, get your team registered now and use the last few games of our season to see how you like it.

8 divisions seems an awful lot to get throught ot get to the Prem. and must be very off putting for newcomers.

How about having 9 divisions but with less teams and have the Prem as a stand alone league but two separate leagues of 4 leagues filtering into it ? Much like how the Conference works now.

It is a nice suggestion Shrews and I did consider doing something similar a while ago, but the changes needed to all the background code which runs the game put me off doing it. It would mean re-writing a huge amount of stuff and that's something I don't really have the time to do.

Although all new teams start at the bottom, there is an opportunity to move up 4 divisions over the course of 1 football season, so if you're really determined to get to the Premier division, you could gain 8 promotions by the end of 2 football seasons, so it would have to be quite a long term aim.
Also there is the ability to be part of 3 minileagues if you are playing against mates/colleagues and then there's the cup competitions and 'All Team Table' to keep teams interested throughout the season.

The Premier did seem a long way off back when I joined in Division 6 (the lowest at the time) but fingers crossed I'll be just one promotion away from it after this season! Think I've got promotion in all but one season I've played so far, and while I won't share all the secrets of my success  it's possible to get out of the lowest two or three divisions just by picking sensibly and regularly, as there are usually quite a few extra places available due to drop-outs.

I would support having more of a "pyramid" structure as it would make it seem less of an impossible task for new people joining to reach the top, but if it's too much work then fair enough to keep it as it is. The number of divisions seems to have levelled off recently even though another division looks a real possibility within the next season or two.

If I was attempting to make a living from the game/website, then I'm sure a pyramid style system of leagues would be a good thing and help encourage a few more new players from joining, but the way I have the site set up, it would take a lot of time to rewrite the code. It already takes a fair chunk to keep everything running smoothly and updated.

Anyway, just to remind you that due to an early KO in Moscow, the deadline for Set 1 selections is at 5.30pm tomorrow, so get them in early if you fancy picking those games.
Set 2 & 3 deadlines are at the usual 7pm.

Matchday 16 scores will determine Champions & Loyalty Cup semi finals and also FA Cup quarter final replays. Good luck all those FISOers still involved in the cup comps!
