GOALS GALORE ! THE ROAD TO ISTANBUL & GDANSK

Post by theo29 »

The Champions/Europa event returns this season, with a guaranteed regular chart throughout. The group stage draws take place in Monaco 29 and 30 August and the first games are on 17 September.
No change in the format, just pick one team from 8 groups (4 in each Champions/Europa) and name your choices which teams will make the 2 finals.
There is time to chat (or query) before the UEFA 'bunfight' in Monaco and maybe discuss the Wolves prospects of being in the Europa draw.

before the Group stage draws Celtic, Rangers and Wolves are all involved in the play-off games of Europa. Celtic have been koed from the Champions by the Rumanian's Cluj. How many of them will feature at Monaco ?

Wolves, Celtic and Rangers are all in the Europa draw on Friday. The 48 team line-up again in 4 'pots' will appear here with details how to enter the comp. You do not have to choose individual players, it is your chosen groups ability to score goals in both the group and knock-out stages.

robot got in quickly with the first entry. One team from each pot in both graphics. (8 teams) No weekly maintenance needed, just watch the goals pile up (or not) Modest cash prizes provided there is a decent FISO entry.

Confused. What are the rules? You mention picking winners and something about goals but apart from that....

Is it to compensate for the Highlander League having too many complicated rules ?

From past experience:

You are aiming to select 8 teams, one from each of the pot columns, who will have the highest combined number of goals.

If you select a team that fields a zombie then your points are doubled. If the zombie scores you automatically win the game outright.

Doh. I thought the Zombie meant disqualification...

I think the whole zombies in football rules were updated recently, something to do with VAR. It was trialled at the women's world cup and there were no issues so was rolled out to the European Cup competitions.

Quick question about the rules. Do the CL teams continue to score points even if they drop to the EL?

yes they do. The 8 teams which drop out of Champions L after the 6 group stage games continue life in the Europa until they are eliminated. Every goal counts.

Wednesday 4th September. The pace quickens (a little) Now 5 selections on the sheet. A handful of pm's yesterday brought forth a player who responded to the invitation and another who recognised Danzig/Gdansk and the WW2 anniversary. What might today bring.? The prize fund edges up with each new selection.

Thursday, 5th September. 12 days to go and nearing double figures ! The pm campaign may be paying off but one or two replying that they are not into footie outside UK. Why not choose 8 locations suitable for either 'stag do's' or honeymoons ! Wolverhampton seems favourite among the early runners. Imagine you were trying to do this in the 40's 50's and 60's. At least there is a promise from murf to join shortly.
