Re: Betfair Snooker Shoot-out Pick-A-Pair game
Terribly sorry about the radio silence since Saturday.
Basically I have conjunctivitis, and I managed to damage the surface layer of tissue over the cornea. I was struggling on Saturday but thought it was just a bit of irritation - was even driving in the evening. Woke up on Sunday in agony. Spent all day in hospital yesterday and have basically been bedridden, have only been able to open my other eye freely this evening.
The main things are:
1 My sight is actually totally fine, but it does hurt and have to wait for the tissue to recover before opening the eye fully.
2 I will be able to post the results on this comp tomorrow
3 I will sort my FPL wc out tomorrow as well
4 I have nothing but admiration for visually impaired people, I can definitely see how this totally affects your life.

Re: Betfair Snooker Shoot-out Pick-A-Pair game
I've been on a 5live marathon since last night in the back room. Compared to what other people have been through its nothing really, but it's the worst pain I remember experiencing.
Aye, have found light to be terrible. Only this evening have I been able to sit in the lounge with all the lights, which I suppose isn't too bad really. I reckon I'm going to have a battle keeping it open tomorrow afternoon when I give it a go.

yorkshiredragon picks up his second sporting competiton in a week.
not having SS I have absolutely no idea what this snooker format was about. I don't think knowing would have made a difference though.

Nice to get mid-table respectability (9th of 17) despite only winning 1 frame!
I watched about 2 minutes of one frame and the quality was dreadful - the whole speed thing (think they were on 10 seconds a pot) seemed to make them lose all focus.

15 seconds for the first 5 minutes, 10 for the last 5 (10 mins max a frame).murf wrote:Nice to get mid-table respectability (9th of 17) despite only winning 1 frame!

I think you have to judge it for what it is, which is basically snooker's version of Twenty20. If I was in charge of Channel 4 or ITV, I'd be trying to set-up a Shootout League, seems to me to be the perfect way to get the sport of tele regularly and for kids to watch. The players say they enjoy it - I bet Gould loves it now

Relieved not to finish last!
Not sure it's a format I can get used to as it seems to be all luck.
Thanks for running it and I'll be back for the next one

Could be great for a revival of Pot Black. Makes sense to have a timed game if you are filling a set TV time slot...Tacalabala wrote:I think you have to judge it for what it is, which is basically snooker's version of Twenty20. Same here, and should have gone with my gut instinct of not picking HigginsMoist von Lipwig wrote:yorkshiredragon picks up his second sporting competiton in a week.
