Diary of Telegraph Fantasy Football Manager 2018/19

Post by Redrum2 »

Hi, it's been a while since I did a telegraph fantasy football diary. So this is now my fourth season playing Telegraph Fantasy Football. I really enjoy this game. In year one, I thought I did reasonably well with reaching the 3k mark and my team scoring exactly 100 goals. In my second season, I finished with an overall position of 2634. Then last season, my highest team (out of 4 seasonal teams) finished with an overall position of 118 and one of my teams finished 4th in the Golden Boot side game (close). This time I am hungry to do even better. I have entered 6 seasonal teams this time around and the aim is to get at least one of them in the top 100. Obviously I am not going to discuss all of my teams here but have a chosen one that I am more than happy with and should do well.

Anyway here is my team for this season.

Game week 1

Foster, B GK (2.8) 7pts - Watford looked to have tightened their defence under the new manager. Pity they didn't buy more defenders but Foster is a solid keeper. Clean Sheet. :D

Robertson, A DEF (3.8) 13pts - Two key contributions. Looks good for the future. Clean Sheet. :D
Mendy, B DEF (4.0) 13pts - Two key contributions, hoping he stays fit, could do well in wing back role. City have great fixtures coming up. Clean Sheet. :D Star of the week. 8-)
Wan-Bissaka DEF (2.5) 10pts - Don't know much about this player but seems to feature regularly in Palace's pre season games. Palace have got good fixtures at the start. Key contribution. Clean Sheet. :D
Coady, C DEF (2.4) 1pt - Another budget enabler but as captain should feature in most of the games. Hoping for a few clean sheets as they do have a solid keeper in Portugal's no.1 Patricio.

Salah, M MID (6.0) 7pts - Can't believe he is at 6.0m. Expect him to do well as last season. Starts the season with a goal. ⚽️
De Bruyne, K MID (5.9) 0pts - Top midfielder for creativity. Should score well with the attacking threat of the city forwards. Came on as sub but then picked up booking.
Sanchez, A MID (5.6) 2pts - Now listed as midfielder and considerably cheaper than last season (7.0) he will need to rediscover his best form to be a key asset for the team. Expected more from his first game.
Jota, D MID (3.2) 2pts - Good goalscoring record in the championship but can he do the same on the next level? Wolves need his goals if they are to survive.

Kane, H STR (7.0) 1pt - Slow start to the season but the best striker in the premier league. Booked.
Aguero, S STR (6.8) 2pts - Rotation risk with Jesus lurking around but his finishing ability and City's fixtures warranted his inclusion into the team. Missed a golden one on one chance to open his account.

Total points: 58 Pos: 21785
Starting XI Pts: 58 Pos: 6712
Goals: 1 Golden Boot Goals: 26290

Team Value: 50.0m
Transfers: 40/40

Summary: A decent week. The defence did really well with 4 clean sheets and 5 key contributions with the wingbacks. The midfield and attack did fairly poorly (apart from Salah). Early day so no need to making drastic changes. One transfer I will have to make is for De Bruyne which is a shame. Options include Sterling, Hazard, Mahrez, Alli, Mane and many others.

Great start and also will be following closely. (So closely I will spot mistakes like Coady showing 2pts rather than 1pt).

Thanks for the comments Jimmy Ching and Tom QC.

Yeah, I thought Coady got the routine two points that I expect from an cheap enabler but then Wolves did concede two points. It was an error, thanks for pointing it out and now corrected.

Will update my team on a weekly basis.

Game week 2

Foster, B GK (2.8) 2pts - Did'nt see highlights of Bur-Wat game so no idea how he played but will settle for 2 points for a cheap goalkeeper.

Robertson, A DEF (3.8) 7pts - Caught second half of CRY-LIV game but the Liverpool defence looks quite solid. Clean Sheet. :D
Mendy, B DEF (4.0) 11pts - Three key contributions. Shame no clean sheet but has taken over the left side of City's attack.
Wan-Bissaka DEF (2.5) -1pt - Thought he had a good game until the red card. Faces suspension but I like the look of him so will keep for now.
Coady, C DEF (2.4) 1pt - Another point onboard from the cheap enabler. I think the wolves defence will get better but faces a tough game with City next.

Salah, M MID (6.0) 8pts - Had plenty of shots at goal but provided two key contributions. Expect better in next game.
De Bruyne, K MID (5.9) 0pts - Out with long term knee injury.
Sanchez, A MID (5.6) 0pts - Missed game with I think a knock from training.
Jota, D MID (3.2) 2pts - Not impressed by him being taken off at half-time. Now thinking he might not be good enough for the next level.

Kane, H STR (7.0) 7pt - Breaks his august duck with goal at Wembley. ⚽️
Aguero, S STR (6.8) 17pts -Sensational performance with hat trick. Star of the week. ⚽️ ⚽️ ⚽️ 8-)

Week Points: 54
Total points: 112 Pos: 30494
Starting XI Pts: 112 Pos: 6705
Goals: 5 Golden Boot Goals: 23515

Team Value: 50.0m
Transfers: 40/40

Summary: A decent week with 54 points onboard. Overall position not great so far but not really bothered by it too much. I think the aim is get around 50 points per week and I feel this team is on the right track. Anyways, I will be posting on a weekly basis independent of how my game week went. So in gameweek 2, the most surprising element is that I didn't make a transfer despite carrying a player with a long term injury. Transfers or finances weren't really the issue, it was just that a lot of players I looked at are still slowly coming back from world cup duty and so are not ready for 90 minutes. Also I needed more information in order to choose the right replacement.

One of the candidates was Eden Hazard. After De Bruyne, he is probably the best midfielder in fantasy football. However, he was on the bench on the weekend and he might not be ready yet to play a full game and also the European transfer window is still open and so there are a few doubts there. Next, on the list were City midfielders with Sterling and Mahrez high on my shortlist and Sane a bit further down. As usual, Pep springs up a surprise and puts all three on the bench. Those three with Walker, Otamendi and Foden just shows the unbelievable strength in depth Man City have. So with those three out of contention I was confused whether to go with David Silva (a good choice and can be a key contribution specialist but maybe the best years are behind him) or his namesake Bernando (in great form but will keep the others of the team long term). Even Gundogan was considered but he can a bit injury prone and plays in the deeper position. In the end I just decided to step away from the transfer button and instead enjoy the performances of Aguero and Mendy.

Following the Man City game, I found out that Sanchez is unavailable for the Brighton game. I was thinking about replacing Sanchez earlier in the week but the news of De Bruyne made him more of a priority. I was hoping to keep Sanchez till the international break and reassessing the situation then but I think I will replace him sooner than I intended. Pogba has come onto the radar after scoring another penalty but I am not actively looking at Utd players right now. So coming onto Monday night football, the final player on my shortlist was Mane. In the end I didn't go for him either. Reason was although he had form on his side, I felt he would a short term move plus I think I am happy with Robertson and Salah as being my Liverpool coverage for now. Furthermore, my other teams have Mane already and I don’t really really want the same players in my all teams - it will interesting to mix things up a bit.

Anyways it was eventful game week 2 even without any transfers made. Now moving onto game week 3 and I have lined three or four transfers already (will discuss in detail) - usually wait till international break but got deadwood to clear. Until next time....

Game week 3

Foster, B GK (2.8) 2pts - Another two points. It would be nice to get a few clean sheet points in the mix as well.

Robertson, A DEF (3.8) 7pts - Liverpool defence still going strong. Clean Sheet. :D
Mendy, B DEF (4.0) 2pts - Plenty of crosses in but City found Wolves tough.
Wan-Bissaka DEF (2.5) 0pts - Did not play. Suspended.
Coady, C DEF (2.4) 1pt - Booked  Alonso, M DEF (4.3) 8pts - Key contributions leading to penalty and own goal. Star of the week. 8-)

Salah, M MID (6.0) 8pts - Brighton tough to break down but Salah once again proves to be the main man with winning goal. ⚽️
De Bruyne, K MID (5.9) Silva, D MID (5.0) 1pt - Tried his weave his magic but credit to Wolves they defended well. Booked.
Sanchez, A MID (5.6) Mkhitaryan, H MID (4.7) 5pts - Key contribution but overall had a poor game particularly defensively.
Jota, D MID (3.2) 2pts - Best I seen him play so far but lacking threat  Maddison, J MID (3.0) 2pts - Looks a better player than Jota at cheaper price. Not a good game though vs the Saints.

Kane, H STR (7.0) 9pt - Thought he had a quiet game but popped up with goal and key contribution. ⚽️ Dangerous player not to own.
Aguero, S STR (6.8) 2pts - Unlucky not to score. Hit the woodwork twice.

Week Points: 48
Total points: 160 Pos: 32825
Starting XI Pts: 145 Pos: 10859
Goals: 7 Golden Boot Goals: 24984

Team Value: 49.9m
Transfers: 36/40

Transfer 1: De Bruyne, K MID (5.9) Silva, D MID (5.0): De Bruyne injured so in comes David Silva. I opted for Silva as I see him as city’s chief creator and he might be one of few players that might be safe from Pep’s rotation. City have got a good run of fixtures still and they should score a lot of goals and I hoping that Silva is in the thick of the action. He excels in playing the killer pass to unlock defences. His biggest strength is key passes (6 vs Huddersfield in 63 minutes) and will take corners and free kicks so a big scope for key contribution points. Another factor is that David Silva has retired from international duty and should be fresh for the games in September.

Transfer 2: Sanchez, A MID (5.6) Mkhitaryan, H MID (4.7): Sanchez injured and Utd look in poor form and attacking wise not great so replaced with player that plays for team that can certainly score goals. Mkhitaryan is another playmaker chosen for my side. Arsenal have got great fixtures on the horizon and Mkhitaryan has made a good start under the new manager. He is a player that I have expected a lot from given his record at Dortmund but it never really worked out well for him at United. They were glimpses of brilliance but he was largely inconsistent but maybe he found it tough under Mourinho’s defensive tactics. Now at Arsenal, he can be set free and looks to have cemented a place on the right hand side of Arsenal’s attack. Watching Arsenal they do tend to attack more on the right hand side so Mkhitaryan will be supported by the attacking defender Bellerin so he can play Bellerin to set up crosses for goal scoring opportunities in the box or vice versa. Furthermore, Mkhitaryan has got a great relationship with main goalscoring threat Aubameyang as they played together at Dortmund. Question marks over Ozil’s performances and concerns over Ramsey’s contract situation and his long history of injuries so Mkhitaryan could take over the role of being Arsenal’s chief creator of goals. Currently he is doing well in the key passes category even though it is early days. Another possible strength is that Mkhitaryan can shoot from distance as shown with his goal vs Chelsea from outside the box.

Transfer 3: Jota, D MID (3.2) Maddison, J MID (3.0): Not been too impressed with Jota after seeing him in three games, so decided to move him on for a cheaper enabler that may have greater potential for points. I saw Maddison play for the first time when Leicester met Man Utd at Old Trafford and I was quite impressed with his performance. He seems to be on corners and free kicks so that could be helpful. He is playing in the number 10 role so should get many goalscoring opportunities. Leicester’s official website describes him as a ‘skilful attacking midfielder with a fearsome record in front of goal’. That will do for me.

Transfer 4: Coady, C DEF (2.4) Alonso, M DEF (4.3): Coady is a good enabler but I found it incredibly frustrating getting only 1 point per week from him so took the opportunity to bring a player that I really want and should be amongst the highest scoring defenders at the end of the season. Alonso has been thriving in Sarri's system. He is still frequently making runs in the opposition third, creating chances and finding himself in goal scoring positions. Alonso ticks all the boxes as key defender: clean sheets combined with key contributions and goals. Chelsea have got good fixtures ahead.

Summary: Just didn't quite reach the 50 point barrier this week but an eventful week that saw transfers being made to the side. Usually I am a tortoise sort of manager in that I don't to make any changes to teams until after the international break. However in this team, I had a few injuries and overall I wasn't happy with keeping some of my players. So the team needed fresh faces and so in come four new players that will strengthen the team long term. Overall, I am now happy with this team. It is not my highest scoring team (that is on 203 points) but I feel it has a good balance to the side. Firstly, It has a nice set of key players that are highly owned: Salah (74.0%), Aguero (49.8%), Kane (45.4%), Robertson (34.5%), Mendy (26.1%) and Alonso (19.5%). Secondly, it has a good set of players currently at low ownership: David Silva (5.3%), Maddison (5.2%, big increase in ownership as started the week on 3.3%, maybe people did the same move from Jota) and Mkhitaryan (4.5%). If theses differentials repay my faith in them, then the team can climb higher in the overall ranking. Now that I am content with this team, I don't see myself making any changes for the weekend or a while. Unless injuries and suspensions occur or I spot a bargain or the next must have appears. I looking forward to the weekend already.

Game week 4

Foster, B GK (2.8) 2pts - Fearing the worst against Kane and co but looked quite solid. Beaten by unlucky own goal.

Robertson, A DEF (3.8) 5pts - Another key contribution. Doing well. Tough games ahead.
Mendy, B DEF (4.0) 5pts - Good link up play with Sterling on the left. Provides key contribution.
Wan-Bissaka DEF (2.5) 0pts - Palace team missing Tomkins and importantly Zaha (hard to win without him). Booked for handball leading to penalty conceded.
Alonso, M DEF (4.3) 8pts - Another key contribution. Plenty of shots. Hit post. Booked. Clean sheet. Star of the week. 8-)

Salah, M MID (6.0) 2pts - Missed a sitter against Leicester.
Silva, D MID (5.0) 2pts Really enjoyed watching him play (even though I am a Newcastle fan). In the thick of the action. No goals or KCs here but plenty of optimism for the future.
Mkhitaryan, H MID (4.7) 1pt - One minute cameo from the bench. Not what I wanted from my latest recruit.
Maddison, J MID (3.0) 2pts - Lucky assist as the ball bounced off him. Had a good game.

Kane, H STR (7.0) 2pts - Disappointing performance. Had big chance to score.
Aguero, S STR (6.8) 5pts - Missing his shooting boots against favourite opposition Newcastle. Plays key contribution for Walker to score.

Week Points: 38
Total points: 198 Pos: 34402

Team Value: 49.9m
Transfers: 36/40

Summary: Disappointing week with no goals. Only one clean sheet from defence.

Game week 6

Foster, B GK (2.8) 1pt - Had a solid game. No chance with goals.

Robertson, A DEF (3.8) 2pts - Seconds away from clean sheet but spurs pulled a goal back. Hit woodwork with cross. Other quiet offensively.
Mendy, B DEF (4.0) 0pts - Injured. No timescale. Annoyingly City kept clean sheet.
Wan-Bissaka DEF (2.5) 7pts - Palace team have Tomkins and Zaha back and so are rolling again. Clean sheet.
Alonso, M DEF (4.3) 8pts - Cardiff scoring the opener was a shock. Surprised that Chelsea scored four and no Alonso goal involvement.

Salah, M MID (6.0) 2pts - Won't be happy that he didn't score. Still the underlying stats look promising. Keeping the faith.
Silva, D MID (5.0) 10pts - Key player for the city side in terms of creativity. Goal and key contribution. ⚽️
Mkhitaryan, H MID (4.7) 1pt - another sub cameo from the bench. One of the worst transfers. Going to bring in replacement next week.
Maddison, J MID (3.0) 10pts - Scored penalty and provided key contribution.⚽️ Leicester struggling but Maddison shining bright. Star of the week. 8-)

Kane, H STR (7.0) 2pts - Another disappointing performance. Struggling  Lukaku, R (6.7) 7pts - Goal. ⚽️
Aguero, S STR (6.8) 5pts - No goals but 2 key contributions. Worringly he is now an doubt with ankle injury. One to monitor.

Week Points: 52
Total points: 250 Pos: 19297

Team Value: 49.6m
Transfers: 35/40

Transfer 5: Kane, H STR  Lukaku, R STR (6.7): This is a transfer based on form. Lukaku right now has the goalscoring knack: two goals against Burnley before international break and then three goals in two games for Belgium. The complete opposite for Kane who seems to be struggling. Spurs upcoming fixtures look good and there is likely to be rotation between Lukaku, Aguero and Kane over the coming weeks.

Summary: Overall a good week. The team went up from 32k to around 20k and is now bang on the average of 50 points per week so going at a nice pace. Lack of clean sheets plus a no-show from Mendy stand out as negatives but the majority of the others did well. I was particularly happy with Silva and Maddison; two transfers where I think I have brought well. However, I need to do something about Mhkitaryan. Two 1pt appearances is not good and I don't see the situation improving for now. It might be time to cut my losses and move him on. So next week, another change will be made. I am drawing up a shortlist now. Also I am awaiting injury updates on Aguero and Mendy.

Game week 7

Foster, B GK (2.8) 2pts - Performing well enough for a 2.8m goalkeeper but could do with a few clean sheets.

Robertson, A DEF (3.8) 7pts - Clean sheet. Problem is difficult fixtures ahead.
Wan-Bissaka DEF (2.5) 7pts - Clean sheet. Good defensive enabler.
Alonso, M DEF (4.3) 8pts - Clean sheet. Quiet game, not the usual attacking threat.
Mendy, B DEF (4.0) 0pts - Injured. Mitrovic, A STR (4.3) 7pts - Goal ⚽️ Plenty of goal attempts.

Salah, M MID (6.0) 7pts - Goal ⚽️ but still underperforming. The stats suggest he can do better but difficult games approaching.
Silva, D MID (5.0) 0pt - Victim of squad rotation. Stayed on the bench whilst City scored five. Is it worth avoiding City midfielders?
Mkhitaryan, H MID (4.7) 0pt - Injured  Richarlison MID (3.8) 2pts - Had a few chances in first half but very quiet in second half.
Maddison, J MID (3.0) 10pts - Scored free kick and provided key contribution.⚽️ Maddison still shining bright. Star of the week. 8-)

Lukaku, R (6.7) 7pts - Disappointing performance.
Aguero, S STR (6.8) 7pts - Goal ⚽️ but slightly disappointed he didn't get more against Cardiff. In great form.

Week Points: 58
Total points: 308 Pos: 15148

Team Value: 49.0m
Transfers: 33/40

Transfer 6: Mendy, B DEF (4.0) Mitrovic, A STR (4.3): Injury to Mendy plus with no timescale when he could be back. It could take days, weeks or months. With not much information to go on, I see no point in carrying an injured player with so many transfers spare so I seek a replacement. I could bring in straight defender replacement or I could accommodate a midfielder or striker by changing formation. The striker appeals to me the most as I can go 3-4-3 which has a favourite formation of mine in the past. However, it not easy to have three heavily priced strikers upfront so going with two big name strikers and one fairly cheap striker. My third striker I have chosen is Mitrovic. He is Fulham's main attacking threat and his stats really stand out. He is going well in the shots at goal department and is not afraid to have shots from all angles and distances and can even be an handful in the air. Been impressed with Fulham's attacking play and with Schurrle, Vietto, Sessegnon and Seri in the team, they can provide supply Mitrovic with many goalscoring opportunities. He could be spot kick duties and take even some direct free kicks. I also believe Mitrovic is good value for money and probably should be priced even higher between 4.5-5.0m.

Transfer 7: Mkhitaryan, H MID (4.7) Richarlison MID (3.8): Mkhitaryan transfer has been a disaster and with him being injured and missing from first team action in the league, it is now time to move on. Richarlison is a player that really impressed when I watched Wolves-Everton on the opening weekend of the season. He looks like Everton's biggest threat and I noticed that Everton seem to favour attacking on the left hand side where Richarlison is positioned so he should do well for goal involvement. Richarlison can also play as a striker if goal-shy Tosun and co are dropped with Bernard possibly taking his position on the left. One thing I hasn't failed to notice is that Richarlison has got good heading ability (bad if he headbutts opponents) and that there might be ample opportunities to score headers as Everton play a lot of crosses from the likes of Coleman, Digne and Sigurdsson. Like Mitrovic, Richarlison is Everton's talisman and good source of goals. He is even an upgrade on Mkhitaryan even though he is nearly 1m cheaper. Everton still have good fixtures remaining.

Summary: A decent week. A real positive is that the team went higher in the overall rankings. Potential issue is David Silva's no show vs Cardiff which as disappointing as City scored 5 goals. Possibly two transfers away from the team I want but might bide my time this weekend and stay off the trigger button.

Game week 11

Foster, B GK (2.8) 7pts = Clean sheet. :D A long time overdue but  Allison GK (3.7) 7pts = Clean sheet. :D Good fixtures ahead.

Robertson, A DEF (3.8) 7pts = Clean sheet. :D
Wan-Bissaka DEF (2.5) 0pts = Player removed before Palace's game on Sunday  Doherty, M DEF (2.9) 1pt = Usually strong wolves defence lets me down.
Alonso, M DEF (4.3) 1pt = Poor defending, not much attacking threat  Laporte, A DEF (3.7) 7 pts = Clean sheet. :D

Salah, M MID (6.0) 7 pts = At long last a goal from Liverpool's main man. ⚽️ Hopefully the start of many in the next few games.
Silva, D MID (5.0) 8pts = Brilliant performance. Two key contributions.
Richarlison MID (3.8) 5pts = Key contribution otherwise a quiet game upfront.
Maddison, J MID (3.0) 2pts = Did well on set pieces, creating chances.

Kane, H STR (7.0) 1pt = A poor display. Lacazette, A STR (6.0) 5 pts = Key contribution. 12,500 TFF managers put him in their team ahead of week 11 and were left disappointed as he only produced just 5 TFF points. I was one of them.
Aguero, S STR (6.8) 7pts = Goal ⚽️
Mitrovic, A STR (4.3) 5pts = Clever pass for key contribution. No shots at goal is a worry though.

Week Points: 71
Total points: 456 Overall position: 13,717

Team Value: 49.0m
Transfers: 28/40

Transfer 9 Foster, B GK (2.8) Alisson GK (3.7) : Foster has been decent but felt it was time to upgrade my goalkeeper whilst I still had the funds. So I am looking at the top end in this category as they generally keep more clean sheets. I have my eye on Allison as the Liverpool defence looks pretty good this season and they have favourable fixtures coming up. Furthermore, Liverpool kick off in the Saturday evening game after Watford (3pm) so can do the transfer (hopefully) gaining points from the departing player.

Transfer 10 Alonso, M DEF (4.3) Laporte, A DEF (3.7) : Watching Chelsea recently, I have noticed that Alonso is not as attacking as he was earlier in the season. I have observed that the Chelsea defence is not as solid with two centre backs and Kante seems no longer to be the defensive midfielder (one of the best in my opinion) - not quite sure what role Kante is playing. A risky move as Alonso does have the ability of getting big points after a quiet run of games. I just have lost patience plus I like the idea of bringing a city player as a replacement. I have gone for Laporte as I see him as the safest route in the city defence (no rotation issues) and he poses a goalscoring threat with his good aerial ability as already witnessed in the wolves game.

Transfer 11 Wan-Bissaka, A DEF (2.5) Doherty, M DEF (2.9) : Wolves defence playing very well this season. They have a very good goalkeeper in Patricio, the back three are organised with leadership coming from Croady. The full backs are then allowed to attack down the flanks. I have gone for Doherty as I noticed wolves predominately attack from the right side and he is showing plenty of attacking threat with crosses and shots in the box. His shooting is not great but hoping that his recent goal vs Palace will wet his appetite for more goals. Palace now embark on a terrible set of fixtures so thought it might be worthwhile to let him go.

Transfer 12 Kane, H STR (7.0) Lacazette, A STR (6.0)

Team Value: 49.1m
Transfers: 26/40

Transfer 14: Mitrovic, A STR (4.3) Anderson, F MID (3.4) West Ham have got good fixtures for a while so useful to bring one of their players, a lot of people have gone for Arnautovic but he doesn’t really appeal to me as he is listed as a striker (midfielder last season) and relatively expensive at 5.2m. Instead another West Ham player has caught my eye, Felipe Anderson. He put an impressive performance against Burnley with two goals. He has created 9 chances in the last 4 game weeks and is on set pieces so high chance of key contributions. A good price at 3.4m so could represent a bargain player.

Game week 20

Allison GK (3.7) 7pts = Clean sheet :D

Robertson, A DEF (3.8) 7pts = Clean sheet :D
Doherty, M DEF (2.9) 1pts
Laporte, A DEF (3.7) 0pts

Maddison, J MID (3.0) 5pts = Key contribution  Digne, L DEF (3.5) 0pts
Anderson, F MID (3.4) 2pts

Kane, H STR (7.0) 15pts = Two goals ⚽️⚽️ Key contribution.
Aubameyang, P STR (6.6) 12pts = Two goals ⚽️⚽️ Hazard, E MID (5.8) 2pts

Week Points: 63
Total points: 936 Overall position: 5244

Team Value: 49.3m
Transfers: 22/40

Transfer 17: Aubameyang, P STR (6.6) Hazard, E MID (5.8) Prefer Chelsea fixtures over Arsenal, Hazard in form, playing up front, essential over the Christmas period.

Transfer 18: Maddison, J MID (3.0) Digne, L DEF (3.5) Leicester got tough fixtures ahead plus I like the look of Digne. He is on set pieces (scoring brilliant free kick recently), plays plenty of crosses into the box from the touch line and his creativity seems likely to lead to Key contribution points. Everton got good fixtures ahead after the Spurs game at Goodison.

Summary: A good game week, now team just outside the 5k. I feel confident that the team will finish inside the top 1k at the end of the season which will represent a good finish. My best team is on 1007 points, overall rank 573 (21 transfers left) whilst my second best team is on 977, pos 1611 with 29 transfers left. This review team is my third best overall.

Happy Xmas everyone ⛄️🎄☃️

Week Points: 125
Total points: 1061 Overall position: 3411

Team Value: 49.3m
Transfers: 22/40

Summary: A very good game week, now team just outside the 3k. Moving in the right direction which is a good thing. 125 points might be my highest ever weekly score but have to check my archives. Fair to say I don’t score 100 points in a gameweek often. Overall happy with the team although slightly annoyed I missed out on the Sterling to Pogba that many people did on Fiso on Sunday. I had it planned but Sunday was my birthday and I lost track of time in the celebrations but did have seconds to spare to do the move in my second placed team which is likely to be my best team in the long term. Never mind, hopefully there will be other opportunities. Very happy with Digne’s contribution this week. Unexpected two goals but satisfying feeling to know I timed the transfer right with the outgoing Maddison missing a penalty. Decent number of transfers to take into the new year. Just need to use them wisely.

Happy New Year everyone 😀
