Bricks and mortar v online

Post by mephisto »

Just wondered what the poker gods experience was in these two forms of poker. Have people been more successful online or sitting down with real people?
I am a bit exasperated with poker at the moment. My last 3 tournaments..$6-22 freeze outs have all seen me ousted with 3 of a kind against a straight. Each time (and x2 near the bubble) the straight has been made on the river)
Basically, are there more power flops online (suiting 2-3 hands) compared to bricks and mortar. I have never played "in real life" so I just dont know. Some advice would be helpful. Or is it exactly the same?

Basically if you beleive that the cards dealt online are truly random and that presumably that the cards dealt in a casino are also random then the chances of 'power flops' are equal in both arenas.

If you perceive that 'power flops' happen more often online than live this could be due to a number of reasons - selective memory, over a small sample maybe there have been more big hands in one area, playing a lot more hands online etc.

Of all the games/sports I've ever played Poker is easily the hardest to deal with mentally. If a player of average ability enters MTTs with 200 runners he will only win once every 200 times he plays. Thats 199 times you bust out in one way or another to just one win. During a run of 199 consecutive losing tourneys a player will have to endure all manner of emotions as his Aces, Kings, flopped straight, flopped flush etc. are outdrawn by some muppet playing 92o

Learning to deal with the mental side of the game is no easy task but if you are to consistently win at the game you need to come to terms with it.

Beleive in your game, trust the cards are random, and grind away. If your game is good enough the results will show it, eventually.

If you need any more advice from 'god' fire away.

Good Luck :D
