Live Question
Afternoon
Thought I'd pose this little Q from the recent APAT event.
Several hours in and I'm moved to a new table, blinds 500/1000. I fold two hands and I haven't spoken to anyone at the table yet.
Next hand I raise 44 from the CO and Big blind comes along. I whiff the flop and put out a Cbet. BB takes a while then asks 'If I fold will you show?'
What is the correct response here?
I didn't want the call, after a short think I said 'I never show my cards' and he tank folded.

Re: Live Question
Correct, but what I'm interested in here is - Is there a correct way to respond so as to not get him to call? By me saying I'm not going to show is that likely to upset him and make him call? If I say I will show, is that showing weakness which might make him call?bspittles wrote:You wouldn't want to give any indication about possible future plays, would you?

Re: Live Question
I suppose it partly depends on how you think he will react, thats different every time. What you did say was certainly the safe way to respond. Lets him know that you wouldnt show if you had the goods or not, no read for him. No change to his decision.
If you think he is going to call and need to answer in a way that changes his mind. Thats tricky, I would probably make sure i answered in a relaxed and light hearted way. Certainly relaxed rather than acting too confident as such.

Re: Live Question
Just ignore him but make a mental note that the BB is clueless.

Re: Live Question
APAT guys are a bunch of nits - they want to hero fold AK when its just ace high and want everyone to tell them they made a great play, whereas i wd have raised dAve's ass on principal because its the first cbet he has made on the table - just to see what he would do
you made the right call
if he is over 45 years old then he would have snap folded had you said yes, he wants to see what you had and will fold to get that info
under 30 years old i dont even answer the ponced up little sh*t

Re: Live Question
I think "yes" would imply you were weak, hence encouraging him to fold, so he'd bet if you said yes.
You said "no", he didn't think you were weak hence he folded.

Pick your pint up, look him in the eye and tell him you never show your cock to anyone except the old lady.

Re: Live Question
I think any answer is OK just so long as you don't sound nervous.
Sounds like he is planning to fold or has a weak hand once he says this anyway, so getting called can't be that bad. You can just barrel the turn!
