Also nowhere does it say max one assist per goal.

Is it possible the awards will stay per last year, they're just calling them something different?
I asked no KCs?

Correct - less subjective and means in-play / live scoring will be more accurate.

Then you should suggest they update their T&Cs, as the above is extremely subjective (compared to, say, "the person makes the final pass", which is what I think people consider assists to be).

Do we know for sure whether their "assists" are those issued by OPTA or something different?

Hard to play a game when you don't know the rules (although theo has been giving us practice).

I'm working on the assumption fan hub will score as they do SDT which is OPTA assist based. The rules for assists there are:

The Promoter will use the OPTA Defined Assists statistics to determine assist points allocations as follows:

• A Player making a pass with the direct intention to set up a successful goal attempt from an open play situation.

• A Player taking a corner, throw-in or free kick where a goal is scored directly from it by another Player;

• A Player shoots or passes forcing the defender to put the ball into his own goal;

• A Player who is awarded a penalty which is taken and scored by a team-mate.

Points for assists are only awarded to a Player from the goal scoring team.

Doherty seems set to go to Spurs. Hmmm. I think that makes him less desirable. Spurs mired in EL qualification and fairly leaky last season. I fancy Wolves for a strong defensive season. Some chat they may bring in Maitland-niles for the RWB position. Would be a nice price at £3.1m.

Looking at the TFF site it looks like they've already adjusted last season's figures to the new assist rule so it looks like it is based on Opta.
Thanks very much for the tables. Very useful.

... for TFF starting lineups: to United/City or not to United/City?

... Maybe wait to see the order of weekend 2. If Mancs play last it is a 2 for 0 for 1 transfer.
Wolves v Man City in Week-2 shouldn't be earlier than Sunday 20 Sept.
Logic: Wolves play first league fixture on Mon 14 Sept and then League Cup 2nd round match probably on Thurs 17th.
Brighton and Sheffield Utd follow same pattern: PL Mon, LC Thurs, PL Sun or Mon.
United first game is Saturday teatime. If City's is indeed on Sunday the Manchester clubs should offer a few 38 for 36s that weekend.

That hasn't worked out at all. Only 6 teams (Everton, West Bromwich Albion, Leeds United, Fulham, Leicester City & Burnley) play twice before United's first game so United players are good for starting line-ups IMO.

City on the other hand has fallen nicely. They're the final fixture - away at Wolves - in the 2nd week so everyone plays twice before their first game OR they're the penultimate game of the 3rd week (Liverpool and Arsenal play after). On balance I'll probably start without City, take a look at the first few games and it'll be a good excuse for itchy trigger finger.

Not Burnley as they were due to play Man United on the first weekend.

Great info guys. The next 2 weeks of pre-season are going to be vital this time around. With the new KC rules and other stuff going on, this is going to be a bit more about guesswork than using the stats imo.

I wish. There is no more pre-season after this weekend - everybody is on an international break!

(Klopp did say he may arrange a game for players not on duty but matches like that will be hard to read anything into)

Confirmation of a deal being agreed is a bit disappointing for me. I was a big fan and your stats (KC v Assist) suggest he remains very good value. If Jose improves the Spurs defence (big ask) it will most likely cost Doherty attacking points. He had been in all 5 of my drafts...

It's a funny one you'd normally jump on a good player going to a supposedly bigger club but I just don't fancy Spurs for CS this season on the Thursday/Sunday treadmill and JM rarely plays 5 at the back so will he convert him to a traditional RB? If he's on the right wing it could be interesting.

I’ve don’t know enough about 50% of the Spurs players in the game with Birmingham right now to make anything of the formation. Doherty is definitely more of a punt at the start of this season than had he stayed at Wolves.

TFF have put out a bit more info on assists:

https://twitter.com/TFFootball/status/1 ... 65288?s=20

Outside of fantasy football, if the final touch is deflected by an opposition player, the initiator is only given a goal assist if the receiving player was likely to receive the ball without the deflection having taken place. Own goals, directly taken free kicks, direct corner goals and penalties do not get an assist awarded.

However, within the realms of fantasy football, assists are awarded more generously and can be credited for:

heavily deflected passes or crosses that lead directly to a goal
shots on target saved when the rebound is scored
shots blocked if the rebound is scored
shots hitting the woodwork if the rebound scored
winning a penalty
winning a free kick leading to a direct free kick goal
a free-kick instigated by forced handball that leads to a direct free kick goal
instigating an own goal usually through shot/pass/cross

I'm sure some of them count as assists according to OPTA/FPL already. I think the direct free kick one did in FPL when TFF KCs didn't - probably the only one where it is dubious whether the assist is 'deserved'.

The Premier League will go back to 3 Subs. The season 5 weeks shorter and On top of that the Champions League /Europa League fixtures will be more condensed in October-December if they go ahead as planned . This could mean more squad rotation than normal this year particularly those involved in CL. Sure Arsenal and Spurs will rotate for Europa League fixtures, not so sure about Leicester.
