I think theo29 is also running this OFF Fiso and adding our entries there, so this can be the TFF side comp just for fun, and he can update us if any of us are closest in the main draw.

BJ is back in harness and entries are closed. The FISO element here is about a quarter of the field and he will be giving some sort of information re lockdown in the next few days. The earliest forecast I have is 8th May, VE Day. Ah yes , I remember it well. (cue for song......)

I think you need a definition here. Not all pubs may open at the same time, and there may be restrictions on those that do.

Re: theo29's TFF covid 19 pubs reopening sweepstake
just to assist hancockyjr (not listed as an entrant0 that the yardstick to win is the day that the pubs have no PCSS (Peter Crouch Social Separation) to deal with. I think it doubtful that we will get that info on 7th May or maybe a day or two before. Perhaps there might be morganb mileage in how many pubs there are still in business at Christmas.! Will there be a TFF next season ?

Not sure they count as "pubs" (they don't in my book) for the purposes of this competition but Wetherspoons plan to reopen "in or around June"
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52477789
Urban dictionary defintion of Wetherspoons: A chain of pubs throughout Britain that act as a magnet for chavs and minors. Invariably centre stage for all fighting due to the lack of entertainment allowing low priced alcohol and thus large concentrations of both men and women that enjoy violence.
Dude, Where's Mickey?
Oh he fancied a fight so he went up to the Wetherspoons

Re: theo29's TFF covid 19 pubs reopening sweepstake
the Wetherspoon announcement came shortly after my post yesterday and just to confirm murf's enquiry whether they qualify for the comp. Yes, they do, whether they are your cup of tea, or not ! One could say that murf has a slightly jaundiced view of Mr Martin's empire but it should make a good story in the coming weeks.......and months.

I'd definitely want a Peter Crouch length between me and the next punter if I was drinking in a Spoons. Pre, during or post lockdown.

If you did lay Peter Crouch down on a Wetherspoons floor as a social distancing tool then he wouldn't be able to get up again as he'd be stuck to one of their ghastly carpets.

I don't think opening for a day or so before Govt\Courts close them should count.

May is here and no early word on the easing of the lockdown but I think all the forecasts before the end of September can forget it. That will leave around a dozen still in the running, October onwards.
The Paris bistros are featured heavily today. They are still closed but the PCSS test will be difficult for them too.

Did anyone have July 4th?
https://www.standard.co.uk/go/london/ba ... 48156.html
It looks popping out for a quick pint is about to radically change, as JD Wetherspoons today announced its plans for reopening – which will see Tim Martin's pubs look very different.
The group, which operates 875 pubs across the UK and Ireland and is hoping to open on July 4, subject to approval from the Government, has put together plans to protect drinkers and staff alike, at a reported cost of £11 million.
There's also some pub news here too:

thanks to Dot for the pub Picture Post. To confirm, while there is still social distancing officially in force the £50 stays with me. I think it will be some time before we go back to how things were in the middle of March, no matter what W. spoons and others get up to in the meantime.

Re: theo29's TFF covid 19 pubs reopening sweepstake
Pubs will surely be open to sit and drink in in the forseeable future (My late August guess still remains good - but I can also see it being sooner) but socially distancing rules and 'no standing at the bar' will still be here for a long while yet.
