Tff chit chat 21 and 22 December
SATURDAY 21ST DECEMBER
Everton 12:30 Arsenal
Two currently managerless clubs go head to head in Saturday’s early fixture. Everton are undefeated under Duncan whereas Freddie had not been quite so lucky. Lacazette has been benched for Arsenal’s recent games. Calvert Lewin is the Everton striker of choice at the moment, Moise Kean isn’t.
Aston Villa 15:00 Southampton
The first of the 3pm matches features two relegation threatened clubs in the shape of Aston Villa versus Southampton. Villa beat a Liverpool schoolboy 11 in the Carabao Cup in mid week and perhaps the goal for Wesley will boost his confidence. Southampton have picked up a few points recently but the defeat by West Ham was poor. Ings has looked sharp recently.
Bournemouth 15:00 Burnley
Down at the Vitality Burnley are the visitors. Bournemouth have been on a losing streak recently but the win over Chelsea will have done them no harm. C Wilson flagged as injured. Burnley need both of their strikers fit and firing as a lone Barnes or Ch Wood is not as effective.
Brighton 15:00 Sheff U
To the Am Ex next where Brighton host Sheffield United. The Seagulls have bought a decent striker in Maupay who has taken over the scoring boots from old man Murray. The Sheffield Blades are looking sharp and are level on points with Man Utd which says a lot about one of the teams.
Newcastle 15:00 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace travel to the North East to take on Newcastle in the next of the 3 o'clock games. Shelvey had been performing well prior to his recent injury. How much will the Magpies miss him if he's not fit? The Palace defence has been a bit makeshift recently but has done ok.
Norwich 15:00 Wolves
The big news about this game is that Pukki has a toe injury. It it keeps him out then it has big implications for Norwich as he is a goal machine and will be sorely missed. Wolves have played a lot of games already this season and the Christmas period is quite relentless so perhaps some rotation is on the cards here.
Man City 17:30 Leicester
Saturday’s late game features second against third. Man City are the lower placed team but they looked good against a woeful Arsenal last weekend. Leicester were held to a draw last Saturday and the defence has started conceding the odd goal in recent weeks. Both sides safely through in the Carabao Cup. Should be a fascinating match.
SUNDAY 22ND DECEMBER
Watford 14:00 Man Utd
Sunday’s early game has relegation threatened Watford up against a mid table Manchester United side who can pull off a good result against the bigger sides but easily drop points against the rest. Rashford is in form on the wing. Watford are still bottom, none of their new manager bounces hasn’t really worked for them this season.
Tottenham 16:30 Chelsea
Sunday’s late match is a good old London derby. Tottenham are the home team and have been in good form since Jose arrived. Chelsea are having a bit of a wobble at the moment, have the wheels come off the Frank Lampard bus? Today Harry will be trying to blow the doors off it too.
No game for Liverpool or West Ham.
Next fixtures on 26 and 27 December.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Thank you for the previews each round, morganb. Much appreciated.
Yes, amazingly, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team have taken more points against the current top five (13 from four wins and a draw) than they have the rest of the division (12 from 12 games).Manchester United side who can pull off a good result against the bigger sides but easily drop points against the rest.

Re: Tff chit chat 21 and 22 December
For the past several seasons this is where I blow transfers on impulse, and it's never worked. Right now I have 30 left for the season and with my current XI starting each week and doing ok it feels like I should try and leave it be until post-FA cup round 3. Do you agree? For what it's worth I am tempted to ditch Chilwell for Traore. Current team is (5-3-2) Ederson, Guilbert, TAA, Chillwell, Sonucu, Doherty, KDB, Raheem, Maddison, Vardy, Kane. Thoughts?

I also tend to suffer this time of year and waste transfers particularly in the new year. I took TAA out last week with Liverpool not playing until late on the 26th. They also have difficult fixtures, after January they should walk the league if they still have a commanding lead. Traore is indeed starting to look like the fantastic player he was tipped to be at Barcelona

Merry Christmas MorganB many thanks for your tireless work here and elsewhere.
Not much activity for me now but will be reversing the 4for1 on the 29th in part at least.

Not that amazing as they are much better playing on the counter than when dominating possession....SamD wrote: ↑20 Dec 2019, 11:25 Thank you for the previews each round, morganb. Much appreciated.

Hoping for a quiet one too. Don't even need to think about the 3for0 v 4for1 option or the 'who to ditch' questions yet.happyhoppy wrote: ↑21 Dec 2019, 09:48 Not much activity for me now but will be reversing the 4for1 on the 29th in part at least.

Not sure. I'm not watching which is probably a good call from what I've just read on the text commentary.blahblah wrote:Are any players wearing gloves and short sleeves?

As far as kicking habits that are bad for you go, in rising severity of challenge to resist, its pringles, haribo, heroin, Aguero.

Re: Tff chit chat 21 and 22 December
I am aiming to avoid 3 of those until at least the new year. 2 of them forever.
I love my Pringles too much and have some Paprika ones downstairs so I doubt they'll last even til Match Of The Day. Haribo are just an occasional treat. I can go without them. Honest. So my list is pretty much in reverse. Not sure whether to put heroin before or after Aguero. I think heroin must be easier to resist as I've seen Trainspotting and I'm sure Renton would have found a way out of his bedroom, after his mum locked him in, to transfer in Aguero.

Norwich 1-0 Wolves
Todd Cantwell starts and finishes the move that opens the scoring. His pass wide finds McLean whose cross is not properly cleared by a Wolves defender [No KC??], allowing Cantwell to fire in.
Still got him in one team. A nice consolation this week for that team.... a Liverpool block.
