TFF chit chat 20th, 21st and 22nd September
FRIDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER
Southampton 20:00 Bournemouth
That rare beast, the Friday night fixture, offers up a South Coast derby between Southampton and Bournemouth. The Saints and The Cherries have identical records so far this season, with both sat comfortably in mid table. Callum Wilson scored a brace last time out, whereas Southampton look defensively sound.
SATURDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER
Leicester 12:30 Tottenham
Saturday's early match sees Spurs travelling to the King Power to take on Leicester. Tottenham appeared in the Champions League in mid-week so are unfortunate to be playing again so soon. Son got a couple of goals last weekend. Leicester are in the midst of a tough run of games. Is it all about Vardy versus Kane?
Burnley 15:00 Norwich
Fortress Turf Moor next where Norwich are the visitors. The Canaries will have been buoyed by last week's victory against Man City. And Pukki scores! Cantwell is looking like a good enabler. Burnley have been a bit of a mixed bag so far this season. Barnes has gone slightly off the boil - time to get rid?
Everton 15:00 Sheff Utd
Sheffield United are the visitors to Goodison Park. Everton started well in defence but have now reverted to form. The Blades have been trying hard but will little reward. The Toffees still don't have a proven striker. Sheff United would leapfrog Everton with a win today.
Man City 15:00 Watford
Almost top versus definitely bottom next - Man City host Watford. City were rocked last weekend by Norwich but their Champions League start went a lot better. Watford are under new management and put up a spirited fight against Arsenal last Sunday. Doubt there will be another shock on the cards.
Newcastle 17:30 Brighton
Saturday's late match features Newcastle against Brighton. 18th v16th. Murray hasn't scored for a while, Maupay is the Seagulls top scorer. Newcastle started well against Liverpool but faded as the game went on. Could be close.
SUNDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER
Crystal Palace 14:00 Wolves
Sunday's early game sees Wolves travelling to London to take on Roy's Boys. Wolves were in Europa action on Thursday night and lost which won't have helped their confidence. Crystal Palace were beaten 4-nil by Spurs last Saturday but had kept a couple of cleansheets previous. Don't forget that Wolves are bottom three.
West Ham 14:00 Man Utd
Sunday's other early game sees Manchester United travelling to London to take on The Hammers. United were in Europa action on Thursday night and snuck a 1-0 win thanks to Mason Greenwood. The Hammers don't seem to have gotten going yet this season.
Arsenal 16:30 Aston Villa
Sunday's late match features Aston Villa travelling south to play Arsenal. Arsenal were another team in Europa League action in mid-week with a 3-0 win over Frankfurt. Expect the usual first-teamers to be back today. No Lacazette though. Villa will be hopeful of at least scoring today.
Chelsea 16:30 Liverpool
And finally, the big match. Two Champions League giants go head to head at Stamford Bridge. Both teams lost on Tuesday night so neither team will be content with losing this one. Mason Mount could be injured for this one, Liverpool came through mid-week unscathed.
Southampton 20:00 Bournemouth

Stones out for five weeks, marvellous. Can't see anyone else around the same price worth having. Might do Stones and Jota to Cantwell and Abraham, feels a bit bandwagon but sod it.

Some may say it’s crazy but what about Otamendi? Surely defenders are gonna start performing soon, Pep will find a system, and City still have a nice run of games. Cantwell looks great and involved in lots so also considering him.

At this point in time why would anyone say that Otamendi is a crazy choice? There's more than enough going for him to overcome any real or imagined reservations. Show more confidence in your own judgement and change the start of your post to - "I like Otamendi. Surely defenders ............"

Are any of the other 35% of Kane holders feeling like they need a sign from him in the early game to resist a Pukki/Abraham swap that would allow a significant midfield upgrade (I’m 2 up top with Sergio). I cant shake the fear that Kane could, as Morganb would say, start blowing doors off again. His points are reasonable without the explosives but I’m eyeing up KDB and Mane.

C Wilson makes it three, sounds like no KCs as it was a defensive mix-up

Walker-Peters not in the squad. The logical move seems to be to ship him out for Cantwell - already have Pukki though and 2 Norwich attackers feels a tad excessive at this stage of the season.

Anyone tempted by a Mount to Lamela swap? I was sold on this yesterday until Big Frank said Mount may play tomorrow. I assumed he'd be out until then...

Re: TFF chit chat 20th, 21st and 22nd September
No idea how I did it but somehow I managed 2 transfers when trying to do one.
As well as my minor cheapo tweak, I also accidentally bought in Mane for Sterling (and must have just clicked rather than reading confirm screen...)
Ignoring my idiocy (on an 'I am where I am' basis).... Should I reverse the transfer (City at home to Watford....) or maybe sell Salah instead of Mane??? I still have 37 transfers (only made 1 before today) so can handle an extra transfer (2 total ).

I did something similar last year Murf. The self loathing wore off by Monday or Tuesday.
Liverpool games do look tougher on paper than City fixtures next 6 so I see where you are coming from. I’ve been getting along without Salah recently. Mane seems more of a threat. You are going to have to be be behind the sofa for one of the games. For me is Liverpool just now.

The annoying thing is that if I fundraise by selling Salah instead of Mane then I wouldn't have bought the player I just intentionally bought - could afford Abraham instead.Jamjack wrote:I did something similar last year Murf. The self loathing wore off by Monday or Tuesday.

I suppose it could depend on how Aurier plays today - feels like he might be 1st choice at right back for Spurs for the time being but having said that he will probably get rotated with Spurs' Champions League commitments. Norwich play Burnley, Palace, Villa and Bournemouth in the next 4 games which makes Cantwell a tempting proposition.

I'm taking the view that Cantwell appears to be a certain starter whilst Walker-Peters is going to be a lottery each week, so I'd rather have Cantwell for now and only start to worry if he gets injured or starts to be rotated - by then might have a better idea of W-P's position in the Spurs pecking order too.

Cheaper defenders are good options too but the thought of losing a £2.4m Spurs defender seems wrong....

Easy enough to swap them over again if W-P becomes a regular starter and Spurs start to keep clean sheets in the league (only 1 out of 5 prior to today).
