TFF chit chat 9th, 10th and 11th August
* The following was written before the Premier League Transfer Window slams shut at 5pm on Thursday
FRIDAY 9TH AUGUST
Liverpool 20:00 Norwich
And we're off. The first game of the new season sees newcomers Norwich visiting Anfield to take on Liverpool. The Canaries won the Championship last season thanks to the goals of Pukki, however Buendia was just as important for them in midfield. Liverpool won the Champions League last season. The Reds will likely be without Mane after his AFCON exertions.
SATURDAY 10TH AUGUST
West Ham 12:30 Man City
Saturday's early fixture takes us to East London where the reigning Champions, Manchester City, are the visitors. City will be hoping to start the campaign with a win (though they've already won the Community Shield but that doesn't count). You never quite know what you are going to get with the now Arnautovic-less Hammers. Wilshire is fit
Bournemouth 15:00 Sheff Utd
The first of the 3 o'clocks has Sheffield United taking a long trip to the seaside to visit Bournemouth. The Blades come into the Prem as runners-up in the Championship and at the moment I know very little about them but this is my homework for the week. Bournemouth still have all the old Home guard faces - Wilson, Fraser. Brooks is injured though.
Burnley 15:00 Southampton
To Fortress Turfmoor next. Southampton are the visitors to Burnley and both teams will be hoping for a better season than last time around. The two sides have kept their squads relatively intact over the summer and I don't remember any big money signings for either team (but I'm sure someone will be along soon to correct this assumption )
Crystal Palace 15:00 Everton
Selhurst Park is up next. The will-he-won’t-he saga of the summer should be over by 5pm today. Will Wilf Zaha be playing for the home or away side today (or somebody else entirely)? Everton have spent well over the summer, bringing in Moise Kean and his mum. Palace are now the proud owners of Gary Cahill.
Watford 15:00 Brighton
The final 3pm fixture is a kings-of-the-skies wildlife derby featuring Hornets against Seagulls. Brighton looked quite bright during pre-season (Pascal Gross has probably flown under your radar) and have brought in a goalscorer in Maupay (4m in TFF). Watford General Hospital are looking forward to welcoming Danny Welbeck to their wards.
Tottenham 17:30 Aston Villa
It's all kicking off at 5:30 at White Hart Lane in the late match. Spurs are without naughty boy Heung-min Son and injury prone Dele Alli. Aston Villa came up via the play-offs and are comprised of Jack Grealish plus 10 other players. Remember, Harry Kane never scores in August (except when he does).
SUNDAY 11TH AUGUST
Leicester 14:00 Wolves
Two 2 o'clock games this Sunday, the first alphabetically is a who's-been-in-my-bins wildlife derby featuring Foxes v Wolves. Leicester still have Vardy, Maddison and Tielemans. Wolves should hopefully have Jimenez and Jota available. Wolves played Pyunik (Who are they? Exactly!) in the Europa League on Thursday, how will this have affected them?
Newcastle 14:00 Arsenal
Stevie Bruce's black and white army are up next. Arsenal are the visitors to the North East. The Gunners are having a defensive crisis at the moment (as they might have signed David Luiz) but have a strike force to die for. Newcastle are have a crisis in general but with Stevie at the wheel I'm sure they'll be fine.
Man Utd 16:30 Chelsea
And finally, the weekend's big match - Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s Manchester United v Frank Lampard’s Chelsea FC - two of the biggest names in world football. United have had an interesting transfer window with Daniel James and Harry Maguire arriving and Lukaku likely to be off. Don't mention transfer windows to Chelsea as it has all been one-way traffic.
Good luck for the season ahead and don't forget to check out all the 2019 side games on the following thread:

Great to be back and well done on the correct use of terminology - transfer windows always slam shut.
Can I take this opportunity for a big plug*:
Roll up for the best** TFF sidegame on FISO: The Highlander League (now with added Zombies). Just chuck your team in and avoid the cull each week/fortnight - and if you do get knocked out you can always come back as a zombie!
Please sign up for this, more numbers makes the game better. Chuck any old team in (each team can go in 3 superleagues) or dedicate a team to it (you get 5 teams after all)
Cheers and have a good season

* Can I just say that you are lucky I didn't use other images I found by googling 'big plug'
** Eggcup fans may disagree and it is close

Great to be back also and good luck to all in the season ahead.
I'm currently going round in Zinchenko circles, like many others. Maybe time for another poll already?

Jiminez and Doherty fit and playing. Don't you just hate it when people bring you news like that after you think you've settled on your team.
Oh, nearly forgot to say, Klopp says Mane is fit and "an option" for tomorrow night.

Now that Luiz has gone to Arsenal does that make Zouma and Christensen viable options?

Depends who FFL prefers. As discussed on the Enablers thread, there will be a bargain or 2 there. Just don't know who they/that will be...cnkp21 wrote:Now that Luiz has gone to Arsenal does that make Zouma and Christensen viable options?

Doherty starting and scoring in europa, jota and jimenez in the assists and goals...
All withdrawn before the end, presumably to save them for Leicester

Have got Doherty in, but don't think I can be brave enough to go with Jiminez as my one up front - probably won't be the only reason I won't win though!

I looked at Jiminez as my one with a very expensive defence.

Re: TFF chit chat 9th, 10th and 11th August
In light of this disturbing team news from Wolves, how do you rate the following last ditch transfers...?
Robertson > TAA
Walker-Peters > Doherty
Barkley > Jota
Kane > Jimenez
Which foursome would you prefer? Does the latter leave me too Wolves heavy or is it good to have their three star players?
Another option is to make just two transfers and stick with Robertson/Barkley instead of TAA/Jota - which duo is most deadly?

AWB and Bilva
Ederson and Bilva
Wouldn't touch Chelsea's defence, yet anyway. Ok there are some bargains in there but can see them conceding plenty to begin with. I'd fancy Man Utd and Leicester both to score at least two past them.

I also think Trent is going to lose a lot of game time to gomez. Especially if matip I'd preferred at cb... Robertson safest pick.

Salah or no Salah is my conundrum. My team looks a lot more balanced without Salah but don't know if I can bring myself to start without him.

Salah had 10 shots vs man city, the best team in the leave. 4 on target and 2 hit the post. One was cleared by the freak Kyle walker. He looked a massive threat to me. You'd be brave not to!!

Gonna need a HUGE sofa if you don't have him for tonight's home game against Norwich.

Some people are very keen for the new season to start.
Jon Arne Riise's son has got his new Liverpool shirt on:
https://www.instagram.com/p/B08K957DzVX/
Not bad work as he was only born at 11:30 this morning
Not sure about naming him after Neil Warnock though....
