Attacking Full Back assists V Defensive blocks

Post by Matt70 »

so far this season it seems full backs are obtaining a lot of points though assists/Goals. They are now some of the most attacking players on the pitch so a defender obtaning a large number of assists/ Goals outweigh picking blocks.

Examples are:
Alonso
Robertson
Mendy
Robertson
Chillwell
Bertrand
Periera
Bellerin
Monreal
Schlupp
Coleman

SO rather than picking defensive blocks is it now better to load your teams with attacking full backs. It seems now full backs likely to get more assists than most midfielders in the game

Football has gone mad. Bellerin spent the whole game attacking. Don't see Arsenal getting many clean sheets. I now have the top 3 on your list.

They are both viable options. If a team goes on a ridiculous run of clean sheets like Chelsea did a couple of seasons back it catapults you up the league at a remarkable rate.

I suppose the ideal is a solid team with attacking defender. If anyone is going for monthly/ or weekly prizes the block is still viable option. But for a season long team it spreads the risk when you know you have a player who will get assists or score. Most full backs are not defenders these days but some of a teams main attacking players. Defensive/Holding midfielders have more right to be classed as defenders in most cases.

It just create fantasy teams that are unbalanced an do not look like a proper football team. What is the point in picking most central defenders now unless they score the odd goal or are likely to have assist too (VVD/Macguire etc)
