.... and why did Son get a yellow...? This is a farce
Penalty right according to the rules apparently.
I thought if it started outside and carried on inside it wasn't a pen but Chris Foy says otherwise. I bow to his judgement.....

I've been holding on to Son for this game, so I'd expect nothing more than missed pen, with a red card later..

Just about all these VAR referrals are for things that the ref and assistants should be picking up themselves. The ref is crap and relying on the VAR to do his job. Other than the first 'goals' VAR has definitely got it all right.

The VAR people should have seen that there were Rochdale defenders encroaching before Son even did his dummy and the kick should have been retaken. Absolute Shambles.

The foul definitely carried on into the box.

Surely not? A foul before the kick was taken.

I think......
I hope so.

Does TFF Live usually include penalty misses?

Not one there tonight.

TFF Live doesn't mention a penalty. They clearly have no idea what to do with it.

I suppose technically the penalty was 'cancelled' before it was taken as Murf said.

And to think people said that we shouldn't have video replays or we'll have nothing to debate in the pub after the match

So - because of the illegal feint by Son in taking the pen, it was disallowed .... but you see that so often. A very strange night

Foy has gone through them and VAR has got it right, but it's taking too long. The ref is shite as well.

In many years of watching football I have learnt something new tonight. Never knew that stopping in run up is a yellow card and cancelled penalty. Don't think I've ever seen it. Not saying it's wrong, just you learn something every day!

But the VAR decision was incompetent in the first place. The initial foul was outside the box and THAT is where the free kick should have been given.
I’ve always heard that but never understood why the ref can’t play advantage at that point 7ntil a foul is committed in the area. Is that not allowed in the laws?

The foul was committed in the box because that is where Trippier was unlawfully impeded, in other words that's where he lost balance and hit the deck.

This was the case for the third. For the second it was Lucas and Lamela.
