provisionally 25 points for Kane alone... that could do some serious damage

The last two days has been a complete disaster 4 players all with fixtures only 1 makes the bench and quite frankly I think that is that. My hopes well and truly dashed. Im literally gobsmacked and feeling rather down in the dumps. Closest I've ever come to winning a significant amount of money and right at the most important moment its blown up in my face

Re: Chasing Starting XI Glory
Gonna take a miracle for Richard Neave to blow a 68 point lead - 11 sunday benchings and no cup final points and he'd probably still win!
Must have laughed all night with 2nd to 4th not having his Kane

so no Barkley, no Mane, no De Gea and no Valencia (again) hope United lose the europa league final absolute insult
Eriksen, Aguero, Hazard, Alexis, Bertrand, PVA and Cook... you 7 are my only hope

It's not that bad - Barkley might come off the bench and get a goal.wizardoffire wrote:so no Barkley, no Mane, no De Gea and no Valencia (again) hope United lose the europa league final absolute insult

IMO You still have a chance for 3rd prize.

Re: Chasing Starting XI Glory
I was close to loads of points from my Baggies and Spurs defenders but then suddenly I wasn't. Sergio got me some points but I slipped away badly as soon as I realised I was in the top three.

Yeah, what a disappointment its all over... what could have been had United played De Gea, Valencia for all those games and had Kane not run riot
Ill post the final positions once the FA cup is over and reflect on the fun that was before the wheels fell off in spectacular style

Sorry to let you know you were up there in this. As soon as you knew you just crumbled with the pressure. My fault entirely. Sorry.Spinynorman wrote:I was close to loads of points from my Baggies and Spurs defenders but then suddenly I wasn't. Re: Chasing Starting XI Glory
Eventually finished 151st overall... just what could have been had I been more proactive over the Winter months
In this competition, managed to finish 18th
Your top 10
Pos Manager Team Pts
1 Richard Neave middle of the road 1918
2 Dave Green ARGENTINA 1846
3 Giles Thomas Thomas Tigers 1844
4 Simon Gibbons SG Premier 1835
5 MARK BUTTERWORTH MIXALOT FC 1835
6 Darren Taylor - Kid 1834
7 Ian Kennedy Lily's River Dancers 1830
8 Dave Green BAHAMAS 1824
9 Dave Green AUSTRIA 1821
10 Darren Taylor - Art 1815
18 Mark Hammond Nova Scotia 1808
Team review
De Gea 132 points (3rd best keeper) So frustrating he barely played at the end of the season
Valencia 137 points (9th best defender) again barely played at the end of the season
Bertrand 119 points (19th best defender)
Cook 95 points (40th best defender) pretty decent return for 2.2 mill
PVA 96 points (39th best defender)
Sanchez 280 points (best midfielder) No brainer really, will he still be here next year and more importantly will he still be classed as a midfielder?
Hazard 228 points (4th best midfielder) Was nailed on in everyone of my teams, looked back to his best during the Euros
Eriksen 230 points (3rd best midfielder)
Mane 144 points ( 13th best midfielder) Yes 13th best midfielder >.< what could have been had he not picked up a season ending injury
Barkley 129 points (20th best midfielder) Could have had Sigurdsson for the same price and been 42 points better off
Aguero 218 points (3rd best striker) could have had Kane but had he not gone nuclear in the last two games Aguero would have finished second. Kane winds up on 252 but scores 45 points in the last two
What ifs and luck is huge in this game. Kane and Uniteds run in the Europa League ultimately proved to be the difference in what could have been a top 3 finish. Did I learn anything from this experience? For sure, a strong Starting XI is something I want to crack at the start of the season as it sets you up so well for the season. Just breaking down the positions is revealing. Next year, will be looking for those cheap defenders from the promoted teams that are regulars. Cook was a good pick but could have had better choices instead of Bertrand and PVA.
A strong midfield was certainly the way to go.

Re: Chasing Starting XI Glory
I ended up at 41. Not actually that disappointed as this was a rare 5-3-2 team, a formation I had no faith in. Goes to show eh. Given a bit more play time from one or two of them and could have been in with a shout.
