Week 41 - final Premier league fixtures.
A quick update this week as I'm currently cruising from Australia to Vanuatu - it's a hard life but I'm persevering, despite wi-fi issues (which means the graph itself may have to follow later).

As expected, Liverpool clinched the final Champions League spot with a 4-0 win over Brighton. In that match Mo Salah broke the record for Premier league goals in a 38-game season with his 32nd goal. Liverpool finished just behind Spurs who came from behind to beat Leicester 5-4 in the only 'crazy' result commonplace on the final day - a brace each for Kane & Vardy which will be great for England in the Summer please chaps .... I know, but it's nice to dream. I have to mention the quote from Lloris mid-week when Spurs clinched Champions League football next season when he said .... qualifying for the Champions League next season "means more than a trophy" .... we all know where that got Arsene Wenger. Arsenal finally got an away point with a 1-0 win at Huddersfield on the final day. Chelsea's season is fizzling out as they lost 3-0 at Newcastle, they have the FA Cup final next week to salvage their season.
Man City managed to grab a last-gasp winner at Southampton to get to the 100 point mark for the season - another record for City this season. That defeat for the Saints wasn't enough to get them into trouble as Swansea became the final club relegated after losing at home to Stoke. So that's the 'real' football sorted but on to the important stuff ....

High scores this week as there were extra matches ....
Leader up 73 - Gareth Gwilliam (Team 1) 2,262 .... hangs on with a 1-point lead
100th up 68 - 2,169
1k up 66
10k up 65
100k up 60

Top 10 with just the cup final to come ...
1st 2,262 Gareth Gwilliam ...... Team 1
2nd 2,261 Simon Allen ............ Destiny
3rd 2,253 Shaun Woodford ...... city4
4th 2,253 Greg Meenaghan ...... Season CA 5
5th 2,248 Gary Frearson ......... Nicole Lauren 15
6th 2,243 Shaun Woodford ....... att7
7th 2,242 David Watson .......... Pouilly Fume
8th 2,242 Andrew Luckhurst ..... 4
9th 2,242 Adam Pond ............. Play up Pondie!
10th 2,238 David Chadwick ....... Thunder

Week 42 - F.A. cup final
Chelsea won 1-0 with a Hazard penalty - time will tell if that's enough to prevent Conte from becoming the umpteenth manager to lose his job this season ....

Crystal Palace ..... De Boer  Hodgson
Everton ............ Koeman  Allardyce  ....?
Leicester .......... Shakespeare  Puel
Stoke ............... Hughes  Lambert  ....?
Swansea ........... Clement  Carvalhal  ....?
Watford ............ Silva  Gracia
West Brom ......... Pulis  Pardew  Moore
West Ham .......... Bilic  Moyes  ....?
Southampton ...... Pellegrino  Hughes
Arsenal ............. Wenger  ....?

After what must have been a sleepless week for several players, the TFF race is now run and congratulations go to Simon Allen's aptly named team Destiny which finishes top on count-back.

Winner up 21 - Simon Allen (Destiny) with 2,283 (only 12 more than last years winner)
100th up 17 - to 2,186 (51 more than last years 100th place)
1k up 16
10k up 14
100k up 10

1st 2,283 Simon Allen ........... Destiny
2nd 2,283 Greg Meenaghan .... Season CA 5
3rd 2,276 Gary Frearson ....... Nicole Lauren 15
4th 2,265 Gareth Gwilliam .... Team 1
5th 2,261 Shaun Woodford ..... city4
6th 2,260 Andrew Luckhurst ... 4
7th 2,251 Bryan O'Rourke ...... Charlotte
8th 2,251 Richard Neill ......... Physio Wonders 4
9th 2,246 John Ashworth ....... Defoe
10th 2,245 Darren Parker ....... Parker's Posers

The graph compares this years scores with the average of the last 2 years so doesn't show that only 3 teams beat last years winning score of 2,271

Week 1 - no graph yet, well there is but it's not worth publishing yet and I'm still considering some options.
For now, here is some placeholder information ....

Leader 127 points (Mark Wylllie - 6an5em)
100th - 100 points
1k - 82 points
10k - 65 points

Sandor Kovacs sits 2nd and 3rd in the table and I also see a previous winner (Adrian Frost) in 4th. A few Palace and/or Liverpool blocks up the top by the looks of things but it's early days.

More next week :)

Week 2 - Aguero hat-trick

Man City beat Huddersfield 6-1, they look as good as last year but KDB is an early casualty (3 months out) and it's going to be tough trying to predict which of their players to have in your team. Liverpool look a bit more settled selection-wise and could provide the safest bets.

Brighton beat Man United 3-2 (although most of the media reported it as 'United losing' rather than 'Brighton winning') and Chelsea beat Arsenal by the same score. Harry Kane finally put his August 'thing' behind him with a goal against Fulham
There was an average of 3.5 goals per game which will suit me just fine for the rest of the season thanks.

Mendy, Robertson, Aguero, Mane and Alonso are the top 5 scorers after 2 games - a special mention to Neil Etheridge of Cardiff who becomes only the 2nd 'keeper to save a penalty in each of his first 2 Premier League games (Erik Thorstvedt for Tottenham in August 1992).

The fledgling Premier League table has Man City top and Liverpool 2nd. There are 6 teams who have won both games, Chelsea, Spurs, Bournemouth and Watford are the other four. At the bottom, Huddersfield, Fulham, West Ham and Arsenal remain pointless.

I've adjusted the graph this season - as the rules remain the same I have simply made the grey lines last seasons scores (as opposed to an average of the last 2-3 seasons). They represent the leader's score and those teams in 100th, 1,000th and 10,000th positions .... I did away with the 100k line.
The dotted red line now represents a score of 55 points per week. Add to that a healthy 28 points for the F.A. cup final and that will equal last seasons winning score of 2,283.

This seasons hares have got away faster than last seasons ....

Leader is on 224 points (Robert Morton - Forgiveness) Averaging 112 pts/week (and probably 5 transfers/week)
100th - up 78 (to 178)
1k - up 72
10k - up 64

This is always a good read. It would be interesting to see the graph for the winning individual team (as opposed to the overall leader which can change from week to week) over the last few years. From your latest graph it looks like scoring tailed off at the end of the season, perhaps as long-term leaders low on transfers start to score lower? Not sure if that is an accurate reading or a function of the axis. But if it's right, I wonder whether the final winner tends to have a much steeper graph in the last few weeks of the season.

(I'm not suggesting it's possible to find this out, I'm just rambling out of interest!).

I agree - that would be a better guide for us 'mortals' ... where was the winner after week 10, 20 etc.? If there are any past winners out there (or maybe top 10 finishers) who know their scores week-by-week then I would be happy to add that line in as a guide.

in 2013-14 i finished second and recorded a monthly rough position.... given scoring and transfers were different then though plotting the points scored would be meaningless.

I always never used to worry about leading scores until ~jan, with extra transfers I now think March before real contenders known.... and last year it was literally the last week before leader came to fore

I suspect weeks 30-33 coincided with the rise of Spurs results, both attack and defence, (and the decline of Chelsea). Week 6 must have been when Everton were struggling before they improved in the winter 2016.

But it demonstrates that people should not give up just because they are languishing mid season and especially not during the first couple of months of the season.

Week 3 - Respect, respect, respect!

A good week for the promoted teams as Cardiff draw 0-0 at Huddersfiled (no penalty save for Etheridge this week), Fulham smashed Burnley 4-2 (the poisoned chalice of European football maybe taking its toll) and Wolves held Man City 1-1 at Molineux (where's VAR when you need it?). In the early relegation 6-pointer Arsenal beat West Ham 3-1 to leave the Hammers the only pointless team in the Premier League.

Spurs had a great 3-0 win at Old Trafford after which Jose reminded everyone that he had won more Premier League titles than all the other (current) managers put together .... I'm not sure he will be adding to his total anytime soon. Liverpool had a hard-fought 1-0 home win v Brighton (Salah - of course) and they remain unbeaten along with Chelsea, Spurs and Watford (go Hornets!)

Plenty of red card action this week, Hojbjerg (Saints); Hogg (Huddersfield); Adam Smith (B'mouth) and Richarlison (Everton). Richarlison waved his head in the general direction of the aforementioned Smith who then ran to the ref like a 6-year-old girl running to her mummy with a scraped knee (2-2 in that game).

Mitrovic was the top-scorer for the week with 15 points after his brace in the Fulham win. The top 4 after 3 weeks are all defenders (Robertson, Alonso, Mendy & Etheridge).

The hares are still haring off and all of our tracked positions are above last years totals ....
Leader - up 75 to 299 points (Robert Morton - Forgiveness). Averaging 99.7 pts/week
100th - up 66 (to 244)
1k - up 56
10k - up 53
(I will add the progress of Dead Parrot's winning score from 2016/17 to the graph in a few weeks when I expand it)

Week 4 - Hornets flying
Only 3 teams remain unbeaten in the league now as Watford came from behind to beat Spurs. Liverpool still lead the way but they have now conceded a goal after Alisson's attempted fancy footwork got him into trouble. Chelsea are in 2nd after beating Bournemouth - Hazard is going well early doors.

Man City kept up their winning streak against Newcastle (10 in a row now) but are not hitting the heights of last season. Man United managed a 2-0 win at Burnley despite Pogba missing a pen and Rashford being the latest to see red for a little tête-à-tête with an opponent, Lukaku scored both goals there. Glenn Murray also bagged a brace as Brighton drew 2-2 with Fulham.

Arsenal won 3-2 at Cardiff and the Hammers 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves means that they remain pointless and rooted to the foot of the early table. Newcastle & Burnley are just ahead with 1 point each.

Top TFF point scorers this week were Lukaku & Murray (11), Chelsea's Alonso still leads the season-long on 36 points.

Scores were a little lower than last week....
Leader - up 74 to 373 points (Robert Morton - Forgiveness). Averaging 93.3 pts/week
100th - up 56 (to 300)
1k - up 50
10k - up 42

Week 5 - Hazard hat-trick
Chelsea's 4-1 defeat of Cardiff moved them to the top of the Premier league on goal difference. Hazard's hat-trick also made him top points-scorer of the week (17) and of the season so far (39).
Liverpool won at Spurs to remain the only other team to have won their first 5 games. Mo Salah isn't in the top 20 points-scorers and isn't even in the top 4 Liverpool players .... but you know exactly what will happen if you go Salah  Hazard :D

Man United won at Watford but it's the Hornets who remain in the top 4. I did mention them last week and was perhaps a bit surprised by their lofty position, but having looked back a couple of pages at week 4 from last season (they were top 4 then too) maybe I shouldn't have been. Arsenal won at Newcastle and Bournemouth beat Leicester 4-2 to leapfrog Spurs into 5th. Man City beat Fulham to stay third. It's still early days but Man United, Spurs & Arsenal have all given Chelsea & Liverpool a 6-point start .... they wouldn't want that gap getting any wider.

At the bottom, West Ham finally got on the board with a win at Everton - the bottom 4 teams (Burnley, Newcastle, Huddersfield & Cardiff) are yet to win.

Scores are a little lower this week and we have a new leader of the TFF league .... Justin Merritt with his snappily-named team .... 6

Leader - up 47 to 420 points (Justin Merritt - 6). Averaging 84 pts/week (although his team will have scored more than 47 of course)
100th - up 55 (to 355)
1k - up 49
10k - up 40

Week 6 - 6/6 for Liverpool, as Salah scores in a 3-0 win (Saints)
The reds have a perfect start to this point of the season for the third time in their history after doing so in 1978-79 (champions), and 1990-91 (runners-up).
They remain the only team with a 100% record as Chelsea draw 0-0 at West Ham. Man City scored 5 at Cardiff who look to be in trouble even at this early stage.
Arsenal beat Everton to make it 4 in a row and move up to 6th just behind Spurs who won at Brighton. Man United dropped more points at home as they were held by Wolves.
At the bottom - Burnley bounced back after a bad start to the season by thumping Bournemouth 4-0. This leaves a bottom 3 of Newcastle, Cardiff & Huddersfield all on 2 points - how long until a chairman gets an itchy trigger-finger?

There were 10 players who got double-figures this week, the top 5 were an unlikely bunch of Gundogan, Lennon, Matip, Mahrez & Barnes. Chelsea's clean sheet (one of 8 this week) means Alonso is now top points-scorer with 45 after 6 weeks.

Better scores all-round this week ....
Leader up 69 to 489 points (Justin Merritt - 6). Averaging 81.5 pts/week
100th up 62 to 417
1k up 58
10k up 54

Week 7 - the week of the 2-0 win
Five of the ten games ended in a 2-0 win this week. Harry Kane scored both for Spurs in their 2-0 win at Huddersfield; Vardy scored in Leicester's 2-0 win at Newcastle - Arsenal (v Watford); Man City (v Brighton) and Wolves (v Saints) were the other three.

Sigurdsson scored two and missed a penalty as Everton beat Fulham 3-0, which also meant he missed the chance of having week 7 named after him (he'll get over it I'm sure)

Hazard scored his 2nd goal against Liverpool in 3 days (League Cup midweek) in a 1-1 draw which sees both teams remain unbeaten in the league this season, Daniel Sturridge scored again from the bench and now has 4 goals this season at a rate of one every 12.5 minutes.
Man City's 2-0 win edged them into top spot on goal difference .... next week, the final match before the international break is Liverpool v Man City. City's record at Anfield is NOT GOOD, their last 3 wins there were in 2003, 1981 and 1956 (F.A. Cup), which means they're not due for another one until around 2022!

The top 3 clubs remain unbeaten after 7 matches and the bottom 3 (Newcastle, Cardiff & Huddersfield) remain winless on 2 points.

A special mention this week to two managers with very different personalities - Manuel Pellegrini and Jose Mourinho. The former lost his first 4 games in charge at West Ham but is turning things around - the latter is not having a good time of things at the moment (despite his illustrious record); Derby dumped them out of the League Cup in midweek and a 1-3 loss at the Hammers won't have helped matters. Has Zinedine Zidane been spotted in a restaurant in Manchester yet?

Average-ish scores this week and we have a new-ish leader as Justin Merritt's '6' is replaced at the top by Justin Merritt's '3'

Lead position up 59 to 548 points - averaging 78.3 pts/week
100th up 52 to 469

Week 8 - Tight at the top
The big match of the weekend was a bit of a let down but a 0-0 draw at Anfield leaves Man City, Chelsea (won 3-0 at Saints) & Liverpool level on 20 points as we head into the 2nd international break  A Mahrez penalty-miss will have saved lots of people defensive points there.
Wolves continued their good run with another win and another clean sheet - Doherty is scoring well for them with 34 points in his last 4 games. Bournemouth were also in the goals again with a 4-0 win at Watford - King & Wilson are in the top seven season-long points-scorers so far.
Man united came from 2-0 down to beat mighty Newcastle at Old Trafford with a Fergie-time goal.

The top 3 still haven't lost a game and the bottom 3 still haven't won one, but Huddersfield's draw pulled them up to 3 points - a point ahead of Newcastle and Cardiff who lost 1-0 at Spurs. Arsenal are on a good run after a bad start - Aubameyang & Lacazette both scored 2 in a 5-1 win at Fulham.

10 players scored double-figures this week - King was top with 15. The season-long points leader is Hazard with 58, a point ahead of Chelsea team mate Alonso, Aguero and Robertson are the only other players to have 50 points so far .... Mo Salah, last years must-have, is languishing in 26th place with 37 points .... early days though.

A fairly good week for scoring but looking at the grey lines on the graph (last years scores) the leader is a full 6 points/week behind last years leader at this point - the other positions are fairly close.

Leader up 69 to 617 points (Justin Merritt - 3). Averaging 77.1 pts/week
100th up 61 to 530

Week 9 - Cardiff win!
Cardiff's 4-2 win (v. Fulham) means that only Newcastle and Huddersfield remain winless. Newcastle lost at home to Brighton and Huddersfield put up a combative display to lose 0-1 to Liverpool with Mo Salah breaking his goal drought. That win for Liverpool means they remain one of the three teams at the top still unbeaten, along with Man City (5-0 v. Burnley) and Chelsea - who managed to heap some more pressure/misery on Mourinho's shoulders as Ross Barkley scored an injury-time equaliser at the bridge. Chelsea Technical Coach Marco Ianni went OTT with his goading of the 'special' one which sparked a bit of a fracas in the dug-outs .... excellent viewing! :)

Arsenal continued their impressive run (10 straight wins in all competitions) with a 3-1 win v. Leicester - Ozil's goal in that game means he is now the highest-scoring German player in Premier League history with 30 goals (Uwe Rosler & Jurgen Klinsmann on 29).

Ozil also topped this weeks scoring chart with 13 points, Martial (2 goals), Pickford (penalty save & clean sheet) & Sane all scored 12 points. Aguero's goal in the 5-0 win means he joins Hazard on 59 points as the top season-long points-scorer.

Not a lot happened in the TFF charts, all of our tracked positions scored around 50 points ....

Leader up 51 to 668 points (Justin Merritt - 3). Averaging 74.2 pts/week
100th up 53 to 583

A tragic accident after the Leicester game saw the much-loved Leicester City owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, die in a helicopter crash. Two other members of staff, the pilot and a passenger also died. He bought Leicester in 2010, helping them to win promotion to the top flight in 2014 before the club claimed the 2015-16 Premier League title (despite odds of 5,000-1) in one of the greatest sporting stories of all time.

Week 10 - My little Pogba
The top three all won again, Liverpool finally let in a Premier League goal at home (after 918 minutes) but still won 4-1 (Cardiff). Chelsea won 4-0 at Burnley and Man City won 1-0 at the NFL-themed Wembley Stadium  Arsenal's great run of victories was ended at Palace (2-2) - Milivojevic scored 2 penalties in that game - now that I've got rid of him  Only 6 points cover the top 6 places after Bournemouth won 3-0 at Fulham.

Man United beat Everton 2-1 with Pogba scoring the rebound when Pickford saved his penalty ... when I heard he'd taken 28 steps before he hit the ball I imagined a run-up from the halfway line

The bottom of the table is pretty dire; Huddersfield & Newcastle are still winless and prop the rest up, but Fulham, Cardiff & Southampton each have only one win and are not far ahead.

This week 10 players managed to get into double figures, Callum Wilson topped them all with 15 points, a score which moves him into 2nd overall on 65 points. Alonso's 10 points this week moves him to the top of the season-long pile with 68 points.

Another average week scoring-wise, 50-ish all round for our tracked positions .... and we have a new leader!

Lead position up 52 to 720 points - averaging 72 pts/week .... Truth Be Told (Robert Morton)
100th up 55 to 638

Week 11 - Everyone's a winner
Huddersfield (1-0 v Fulham) and Newcastle (1-0 v Watford) both broke their ducks this weekend which means every team has finally won a game. This also led to the bottom seven clubs getting very tightly-packed .... after 11 games their points totals are 5; 5; 6; 6; 7; 8; & 8 .... it must be time for a new manager or two.

Southampton are the team on 7 points in that group, they were thumped 6-1 at Man City. Chelsea beat Palace (3-1) and Liverpool drew at Arsenal to keep the top 3 unbeaten. City lead by 2 points with the Manchester derby up next. Aymeric Laporte now holds the record of unbeaten appearances at the start of a Premier League career (20). A nod too for Leicester, they are the only side to score in all of their Premier League games this season (11)

Man City's big win meant they had 4 of the top 5 points-scorers this week, Sterling topping the list with 21 points - he also jumped to the overall season lead with a total of 74 - just 1 point ahead of Aguero & Alonso.

Only Newcastle, Huddersfield & Leicester kept clean sheets this week  which will have had an effect on most teams' scores. Morata, Sterling, Richarlison & Felipe Anderson all bagged a brace to help boost some teams' points tallies.... all positions have scored 49-55 over the last 3 weeks.

Leader up 55 to 775 points - averaging 70.5 pts/week .... Truth Be Told (Robert Morton)
100th up 54 to 692

Week 12 - Manchester derby
Anthony Martial scored in his 5th consecutive Premier League game this week but it wasn't enough to stop City winning the derby (3-1). Raheem Sterling got two KCs in this game which means he is top of the season-long points table at the international break with 82 points, Aguero's goal means he is in joint 2nd place with Alonso who kept a clean sheet for Chelsea in their 0-0 draw (v. Everton). Salah scored in Liverpool's 2-0 win (v. Fulham) which means this is the first time in English top-flight history that 3 clubs have remained unbeaten in their opening 12 games of the season. City top the table, 2 points clear of Liverpool.

There were 6 players who scored double figures this week, 4 of them were Liverpool defenders, but top of the pile was Juan Foyth with 12 points. The £2.3m Spurs defender scored the goal in their 1-0 win at Palace, that is one cheap Spurs defender if he gets a run in the team.

Robert Morton's team remains top but only on count-back. He has now been top for half of the season - albeit with 2 different teams....

Week .........Team (manager) ...........Total ... Average
1 6an5em (Mark Wylllie) ................ 127 ..... 127.0
2 Forgiveness (Robert Morton) ....... 224 ..... 112.0
3 Forgiveness (Robert Morton) ....... 299 ..... 99.7
4 Forgiveness (Robert Morton) ....... 373 ..... 93.3
5 6 (Justin Merritt) ......................... 420 ..... 84.0
6 6 (Justin Merritt) ......................... 489 ..... 81.5
7 3 (Justin Merritt) ......................... 548 ..... 78.3
8 3 (Justin Merritt) ......................... 617 ..... 77.1
9 3 (Justin Merritt) ......................... 668 ..... 74.2
10 Truth Be Told (Robert Morton) ... 720 ..... 72.0
11 Truth Be Told (Robert Morton) ... 775 ..... 70.5
12 Truth Be Told (Robert Morton) ... 822 ..... 68.5

Leader up 47 to 822 points - averaging 68.5 pts/week .... Truth Be Told (Robert Morton)
100th up 53 to 745
1k up 54
10k up 52

The lines are very similarly placed compared to last years totals with the 1k being on exactly the same score.

Week 13 .... and then there were two.
Man City won 4-0 at the London Stadium and Liverpool won 3-0 at Watford to ensure both remain unbeaten. Chelsea's loss at Wembley (3-1) means that they not only lose their unbeaten mantle but also lose 3rd place to Spurs. Arsenal's 2-1 win at Bournemouth has extended their impressive run to 17 unbeaten in all comps and also moved them to within 1 point of Chelsea to complete the top 5. Man United's 0-0 home draw with Palace means they are miles behind in 7th

Things are hotting up at the foot of the table, there's a new 'cloudy rainy area' over Craven Cottage as the Leicester hero returns to manage Fulham, who sacked Slavisa Jokanovic after a poor start (5 points from 12 matches). Fulham promptly beat Southampton 3-2 in the usual 'new-manager-bounce' scenario which will have other Premier League chairmen shuffling uneasily .... 2 points now separate bottom club Fulham and Huddersfield in 15th  Ranieri's next 2 games in the league .... Chelsea & Leicester .... I've said it before and I'll no doubt say it again .... it's a funny old game Saint.

Twelve players scored double figures this week with Leroy Sane topping the list with 15 (Mendy's long absence may see Sane's points take off). Raheem Sterling was 2nd with 13, moving him further ahead in the season-long scoring.

Leader up 77 to 899 points - averaging 69.2 pts/week .... Truth Be Told (Robert Morton)
100th up 59 to 804
1k up 56 to 741
10k up 54 to 671

Has anybody else noticed a lack of Sandor Kovac teams around at the moment .... and that Robert Morton (our leader) also has the first 3 in the current manager of the month comp as well as having 8 of the top ten in this weeks weekly comp including the top 3?
Has anybody ever seen them in the same room at the same time...? Come on Sandor .... I'm on to you, it will take more than a name-change to fool us! :D

Thanks for the great work again Brencarr. I too had noticed a lack of Sandor teams. He does have a few teams on the previous monthly and weekly leader boards so he's still kicking about. I'm sure a week ago he had a solitary team in the top 100 seasonal but that has dropped off now. But you allude to some possible darker goings on ? I wonder :)

I was about to ask for Sandor last week when I noticed his only team in top 100. Interesting conspiracy theory now !
