Huffington Post reports ITV have dropped Adrian Chiles from their football presenting team with immediate effect. Mark Pougatch replaces him

I think for the most part his biggest crime was just that he sounded like an ordinary bloke. Still, Pougatch is a better presenter. Hopefully this means ITV now won't be going for the prem highlights as rumoured.

They'll just get Lineker if they do. Pougatch perhaps to cover the Sunday edition.

Chiles perhaps lined up for BT as they will need reinforcements next season? Alternatively his old job at The Apprentice - You're Fired is available again...

I know Hansen and Lawro were past their sell-by date but MOTD with a rotating cast just feels lacking in any identity now. There's a real shortage of quality pundits out there.

That's fore sure. The likes of Glen Twaddle and Michael Owen have had me watching games on silent before now. They're enough to make your ears bleed.

Collymore's been given the boot by TS as well. Often controversial and inflammatory, and with a lot of historic baggage people keep throwing back at him, but talked more sense than most. No idea who they will replace him with...

Opened this thread filled with trepidation, had heard earlier about Colin Murray's departure and thought someone may have posted Chiles was taking over his morning show in September.
Not a great fan of Murray, but compared to Chiles he is ear candy.

It is not the empire necessarily, just the relatively small bit that owns The S*n now also now owns Talkshite.

I've always found Murray's accent difficult to understand and therefore lose half of what he's saying which is a big handicap on the radio. I did remember him presenting motd2 which was ok as I could just fast forward past his bit.

Chiles on the other hand was a lot easier to understand but didn't really say anything i thought worth listening to. When interviewing someone he was always just as anxious to air his own views as that of his guest.
