I can see the leagues being put under pressure to go to 18 teams, certainly.

Would certainly make sense to have extra relegation the year before and extra promotion the year after.....

Well, more sense than having a winter world cup that is (not that that is hard)

Maybe they'll split it between the warm countries and the cold ones. :P

What was I saying about no grand plan...

Like I've said all along, Qatar should be held to their word and forced to build their air-con stadiums and parks, and if they can't manage it, they should pay for it to be held elsewhere.

Qatar are perfectly happy to do that. It is the rest of football that is asking for it to be moved.

I think (reading between the lines) that Qatar are saying they are perfectly happy to do that so they don't look the bad guys.

In any case, FIFA health bods have said it would be unsafe for visiting fans etc so unless you want to put a roof over Qatar and air-con it all then there are genuine, now documented, health concerns.

So what about the people who actually live in Qatar? It makes no sense really, does it?

Maybe they can have it in the Qatari summer.... if you follow the logic of the chief medical officer at the Australian Open who defended playing in 40+ degrees C with "We evolved on the high plains of Africa chasing antelope for eight hours under these conditions ...... from a medical perspective, we know that man is well adapted to exercising in the heat."

Its official, the 2022 World Cup finals will be played through Nov-Dec with the final December 18th.
28 day tournament instead of the usual 32, to minimise disruption to club football, how thoughtful.

....and if you were wondering why FIFA cancelled Sepp Blatter's press conference scheduled to follow that announcement without warning or explanation......
Fifa President Sepp Blatter is currently being questioned by representatives of the Swiss attorney general.

In a statement, the attorney general's office said it had opened "criminal proceedings" against Mr Blatter.

It said he was being investigated "on suspicion of criminal mismanagement as well as - alternatively - on suspicion of misappropriation".
