If you have a pension you probably are a shareholder indirectly......Backlash wrote:Is it just the share holders that feel aggrieved or does this affect the general public?

Re: Tesco
Pensions, the mugs game.
I remember somebody trying to tempt me with a pension scheme in my late teens.
He said I could pay in to it all my working life and guarantee me a large sum each year in retirement.
What did he promise? With the work I was on and my ability to pay it was an amazing sum of 4,200 quid.
It did sound large at the time but I passed it by.
At the time beer was 20p a pint and the average wage was around 80 quid a week.

Just don't expect anything from the state instead...jimmy ching wrote:Pensions, the mugs game.

In terms of the fortunes of Tesco, the other big supermarkets have been hit almost as hard on the stock market in the past year, they have lost market share to the value brands of Aldi and Lidl as well as the upmarket Waitrose and M&S, online and convenience stores are also fragmenting the market. The Tesco business model of relentless expansion has ground to a halt in a short space of time. What it means for the consumer, well I suppose the extreme outcome is the supermarket sector collapsing like the banks and having to be bailed out to prevent shortages... sounds very unlikely, but there's a chance one of the big four could disappear through some sort of merger or takeover under difficult market conditions.
