Already owning Vodafone shares, I got the corporate event action form this week about it. Existing shareholders will know about it but thought it may be of interest to others as the deadline to qualify by owning Vodafone shares is the 18th Feb.
Vodafone are selling a stake in Verizon for £79 billion and are returning £51 billion to shareholders in dividends, which will equate to about 105p per share, 30% cash and 70% Verizon shares, which you can sell cost free initially. So it may be worthwile to some as a short term investment if its works for you inclusive of tax / dealing costs.
Or if you already own some, which option are you taking, B or C shares?

Re: Vodafone Shares £50bn Dividend
'Normally after a return of cash and shares of this kind, the share price would drop proportionately to reflect the change.
Vodafone shareholders will receive the equivalent of 105p back on their investment, so Vodafone’s share price would be expected to fall by that amount.
Instead, the company wants to maintain the current market price. To do this it is shrinking the number of shares in issue.'

Why do people say,
'Who do you work for?',
instead of saying,
'Who are you being ripped off by?'
