Has anyone else noticed a big increase in the private messaging asking to end the auction early? I mean, a value item (say £40) listed low to encourage bidding has the opportunity to present a bargain if the seller will (stupidly) let it go for £25 but is there something else going on - some sort of con?
I've listed a couple things recently and am fielding off the requests to end the auction and sell it to them at a buy it now price - even though I haven't made a buy it now price an option. Im also noticing sellers putting in their descriptions "No Buy it now - my auctions will run" or similar.
Anyone have a handle on the trend?

I've get this all the time too, i think it's more to do with people getting more impatient and wanting it now rather than in 7 days when the auction finishes. I've done it a couple of times when they've come to pick it up cash or paypal'd the money.
But normally tell them that it's auction only.

I'll buy it for my daughter if you'll end the sale early?

I think its just people chancing their arm to get it cheaper.
I think there is also a trend for buying outside of the auction (saves you paying fees etc).
"I'll give you £25 if you end the auction" sort of transaction.

The last few items i have sold on ebay have all had someone make a bid by pm and ask me to sell privately
Some people make a small living/additional income from ebay by going to care boot sales, charity shops and the like and then selling the stuff on ebay
I assumed it might be an extension of this - making lots of "end it early" offers to people then recycling it back onto ebay? If you make enough offers you'll get enough sellers?
