Had a bottle of this that I got on special yonks ago.

Glenmorangie Nectar D'or 15 years old Sauternes Cask 46%

Not normally a big fan of Glenmorangie but this stuff was very nice indeed.

Just trying a bit of Bowmore Small Batch Bourbon cask matured - on offer at Tesco for £25.

Nicer than I was expecting tbh. Fairly light and not that much peat, but lots of flavour

Blimey been a while since I posted on here.

Just opened a Lagavulin 8yo, enjoying it. Obviously not the depth of the 16yo and doesn't take that much water but very pleasant. Not sure how limited these are going to be.

Anybody buy stuff from auction sites? Had a few bargains over the years. If you have the right bottle they can sell for silly money.

Current active auction ('til Sunday night):
http://www.just-whisky.co.uk

Other sites I use:
https://www.whiskyauctioneer.com/
https://www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com

Lagavulin of any year is undoubtedly one of my faves. :)

Wife bought me a bottle of Ardbeg recently, first time I've tried that, very nice indeed. Meanwhile my son is a big fan of the darker taste of Talisker Storm.

Current bottles I have on the go are those two, plus Talisker, Talisker Skye, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Bunny, Glenfiddich, Dalwhinnie and Bowmore.

That's interesting. I have a bottle of Bushmills Millenium Malt (Distilled in 1975) I reckon would be worth a few hundred quid.

You (and your son) seem to have very similar taste to me. The Storm is indeed a very nice dram. Possibly only second to Laphroaig Quarter Cask in my current faves list. Used to love Bunny but that seems less special these days - maybe earlier years were better???

I'm currently tea total for a couple of weeks (mainly because scientists worry whisky can have the huge negative side effect of turning you into a prog rock fan but also because I am in training for a marathon next weekend).

Suspect it's the other way around, I was into prog rock way before I developed a taste for whisky

You might get 100+ for it, maybe not too much more though given previous lots.

I think there was a version with a wooden box? That'll get a higher price, can't find an auctioned example just now.

Have an Airaigh Nam Beist and a Renaissance that I'm saving for a special occasion. Think last time I looked they were worth £120-£130 each. Not that I'm going to sell them.

Wow, I had been swayed by ordinary 'sites' selling at an inflated rate and thought it'd be worth more...

Mine is the one with the blue surround protector in your link - no wooden box. I think Ill keep it a while if its only worth £100. Thanks :-)

Thought I'd revive this and see who's drinking what!

So, new bottles I've opened recently.

Bowmore 9yo LE (bursting with sherry, fruit and smoke).
Lagavulin 8yo LE (You like the 16yo you'll love this)
(ahem) a footballer endorsed grain in the form of Haig Club "Clubman" (light vanilla fudge, typical sweet grain whisky) which is currently 15 quid at ASDA (maybe you'd get it cheaper if you were a female member of staff).

Also, spunked some cash on a Lagavulin 25yo & Ardbeg 21yo for a rainy day.

Anyone else?

Jura 16yo is at ASDA for 37 quid right now (usually 43). A recommend from me - one of my faves. Aberlour 12yo for 25 quid at ASDA also worth a check.

The stuff really does seem to be getting very expensive. :(

Recent tastes have been Talisker Storm and a particular favourite Laphroaig. No really special ones but have a couple in the cupboard.

Driven past the Green Welly stop plenty of times, in fact usually stop off in Tyndrum on my way North at the Real Food Cafe (really friendly people and good, basic but great quality food if you're ever passing through). Never realised they sold Whisky at the Green Welly though - never really been tempted to stop and eat there when theres such a good place opposite. Might stop off and have a look round next time.

Might have to get back into Highland Park (have generally avoided it in the recent past - dull name? - but good price and gushing reviews with a tempting description)

Talisker Storm also in offer which IS a great dram (not as cheap as the offer in June posted above was - normal or Storm)
