What's pheasant like?

Post by Yer Old Da »

Taking yer old maw out for her birthday tomorrow night to a particularly expensive city centre restaurant. 8-) It's a Scottish restaurant and I see that pheasant is on the menu. Anyway, my motto when it comes to food is always 'try anything once' so am considering it. Thing is, I don't want to ruin my meal. What's it like then :?:

Provided the chef doesn't over cook it, it's beautiful.

When I go out I usually go for the lamb. Why not give that a go? Like I mentioned earlier, I find that game can be a little dry. Would have to have lots of Iron Bru with it

What's pheasant like? A thud in your rear wheel while driving towards Peebles (as happenned to me today).

The breast meat is delicious - chicken / duck, avoid the rest especially the wing.

It's quite a strong flavour - a bit smoky. Duck isn't far off. I reckon you won't like it first time - bit of an acquired taste.

We eat haggis, neeps and tatties every morning for breakfast. Shortly before slipping on the kilt and doing some caber tossing.

Yer old maw's strictly a white wine woman. Oh well, have to batter the rioja all by myself then. :D

cunning plan ... that way the pheasant will become secondary either way
