Is this safe to eat from the freezer?

Post by Chrisharry12345 »

I made this black forest gataeux http://monitormunching.wordpress.com/20 ... teaux-bfg/ back in January for my wifes birthday..

Its since been sat in my freezer unwrapped.

Based on the ingredients listed can anyone see any reason why it wouldnt be safe to eat?

Any germs in the freezer make it unsafe to eat?

Its too good to throw away but dont want to posion my family at the same time..

Any ideas?

No detergent though. Might wreck the taste.

Q1 why is it in the freezer? - that is the question on which we must start.

A1 Because it would have gone soggy if he had put it in the dishwasher.

If it's only been in there since Jan then I'd say it's pretty safe to eat. Test it on a small child first though to be extra safe

You need to look at this scientifically, make another (control) gateaux now, put it in the freezer for 8 months, then take it out, defrost it and eat it. If no-one is ill after a week then your current one is fine and you can go ahead.

I think in the old days, people used to chuck their frozen cakes into the canal.

if it sank it was fine to eat, if it floated it was a witch

1. Give your dog a small portion.
2. Ih he's OK the next day, eat a small portion yourself
3. If you're OK the next day, eat a full portion yourself
4. If you're OK the next day, serve the cake to friends and family.
5. If anyone dies 'cos the cake has been out of the freezer too long, remember to speed up the cake testing process next time.

In the olden days, caveman era, they kept things in freezers for years without an issue so you will be fine.

Whatever you do, keep it away from Luke Shaw.
