Spartacus themed cake
My wife and myself to an extent are looking at doing a spartacus themed cake for my brothers birthday. Thinking a 3d Colosseum built above the cake something like this https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=colos ... B600%3B449" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but alot more simple
At the moment im thinking wafers to build the structure.. any ideas on what else to use that would work better?

Re: Spartacus themed cake
just buy a whole load of different small cakes and put a small speaker in each and set up timers so they all say "I'm Spartacus" one after the other.

Re: Spartacus themed cake
If your doing it like this image, you could use Rice Krispie squares.

Rice crispy squares not a bad idea as they are so sticky.. Just so dense and big. It might be possible to cut them thinner I suppose

Sorry, I made you one before I saw the 'lot more simple' bit.....Chrisharry12345 wrote:My wife and myself to an extent are looking at doing a spartacus themed cake for my brothers birthday. Use them as 'building blocks' then cover them with 'roll out icing', which you can colour. on the 'seating area' use Jelly babies for the crowd.
Put your cake in the middle. Job done, fully edible Spartacus Colisseum cake.

Re: Spartacus themed cake
Yeah jelly baby crowd is the plan, and limbless fighters of course
I think it will look fine without the icing? I think I prefer the wafers over the rice crispy squares style wise but the crispy squares will probably glue alot better https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=wafer ... B250%3B250" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Thinking of have a cake, building with wafers up the side and about the height of the cake again above it for the Colosseum. and using the wafers to create the benches around the side with the jelly baby crowd.
The cake will be topped in brown sugar to look like sand and then some red food colouring for the blood splatters
We could even dye the sponge red to represent all the blood spilt in the arena

Re: Spartacus themed cake
Would icing sugar and a raspberry puree typethang (instead of water) turn into icing?
It all sounds incredibly sweet to me.

Stage one complete need to build it one lot higher, get some arches going around the edges and get the jelly babies on and do blood splatters!

Re: Spartacus themed cake
Very impressive but badly let down by the historical inaccuracies. In Roman times they still hadn't invented jelly babies.
