I felt really ill on Boxing Day, for about 24 hrs. And when I came back to work today, I found out that 11 of us had all come down ill after a works buffet lunch we had on Christmas Eve at a 5* local Restaurant, all of us becoming ill on Boxing Day.
Now, I didn't go to the Doctors, so I haven't got proof that it was their food, but it seems too much of a co-incidence not to be them.
I don't really want to report them, because I'll use them again because their food is normally top notch, but feel I must at least attempt to claim some sort of compensation.
How would you lot handle it ?

Re: Food Poisoning
Eleven cases is sufficient for it to be considered an 'outbreak' I think?
You should report it so the restaurant has opportunity, or is made to put right any issues it has that caused the problem in the first place.
Not sure about seeking compensation but then I suppose we are getting more and more like the US every year....

Re: Food Poisoning
We use them fairly regularily, so I've emailed my complaint.
I'll wait to see what they say.

I would guess that they "hit" others as well with the buffet?

You could speak to the local Environmental Health 'off the record'. They may have other cases over xmas or before.juckster wrote:I don't really want to report them, because I'll use them again
if they have a bad reputation with them then you may not wish to use them again.....

Re: Food Poisoning
Sorry that your Christmas was spoiled.
You can check them out with this site. Handy when you're on breaks in the Uk when you don't know the restaurants.
http://ratings.food.gov.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Some LA's aren't affiliated but there is a non FSA website which I can't remember the name of right now.

Re: Food Poisoning
Don't forget illness can be passed through many means other than through food.
Who were you kissing? Did all 11 kiss the same person? Did you muffit at the buffit?
Is there somebody in the group who looks as though they are going to leave?
Consider the possibilties through.
Hope you're OK now.
