Country Pub Crawl

Off on a Pub Crawl through the lanes surrounding our house this evening with my daughter and son-in-law. :)

Lots of very nice pubs and lots of different beers to try. After a brisk 6:30 start it's a fairly steady affair with more miles than beers although we should be able to fit in at least 8-10 pubs so it's only a half in each.

Last year we were nearly flattened by a snow plough.

Bit milder and not as slippy this time around.

Hopefully a good time will be had by all. :)

She was only a little Spiny recently wasn't she?
Best to get them used to drink when young though

My best pub crawl was 21. I recalled being in 12 of them.

I remember (or have been told) some where we had drunk up before the person getting the round in had got their change.

Tonight will be a different kettle of fish. :)

In the heyday of my drinking prowess many many years ago we managed to get to Oxford Street on a Monopoly pub crawl.

That included stations, but not utilies but they were done in order.

So that would be 28 different pubs. Pint in each - but with 1 get out of beer free card. Barely seems possible now.

I think that was bettered in Cardiff with 30 pubs but the lack of any kind of structure means that was very very hazy indeed.

A friend of mine keeps a spreadsheet of all the breweries and brews he has had...........since 1979!!!
Beer festivals are a riot watching him find new ones. And he seems to be able to recall a lot of what hes had. But as we average about 10 pints each - he could be making it up and id be none the wiser

Hammersmith used to be good for a crawl, start of at the 2 pubs Barnes side of bridge (it meant you got extra half hour start in them days) then do pubs along river up to Chiswick, from memory there was about 12, the back down to King Street that took in another 12 finishing up doing the couple near the station before a last drink in the Rifle in Fulham Palace Rd.
That as a youth was how we celebrated one of us getting married, now either the beer was a lot weaker in the 60's or todays young are :D we might lose 1 or 2 along the way but majority would complete the walk

The beer was a lot weaker - not that I'm knocking it but ABVs were much lower

We would typically drink "best" - a few stella's or similar and you would struggle to get past Pall Mall I expect.

These days I would be happy to get to the light blues.

I used to organise a fun run 8 pubs spaced over 4 miles. 1/2 in each then run back. Quite a few didn't make it back as far as the first pub. 7 pints in the system used to make for some interesting pavement pizzas.

It was very good although we did fewer than expected as some of the pubs had at least 2 or 3 decent beers on tap. Oddly enough the next day all that was sore was my knee from all of the walking. :)

Reminds me of the Chunder mile after the last athletic meet of the year. Pint, lap, pint, lap, pint, lap, pint, lap, chunder (only after finishing though).

The best times were around the 5 minute mark :D

Anyone ever play Pub Golf?

I lost in a play off three years running after getting 9 hole-in-ones on the proper round each time.
