Not far from the truth. Working in Reykjavik for a few days.
Last time i was there was Prohibition and no TV on thursdays. I was also there when Live Aid was on - missed it.
Definitely no prohibition these days.

Nice place actually. Great view from the office window of the Arctic ocean and Snow covered mountains. Fantastic clean air as well.

Have finally got the taste of ammonia out of my mouth after the shark. Apparently it's poisonous to eat when fresh, so they bury it for a couple of months to go rotten then hang it out in the wind for another couple of months to dry out, by which time it's edible (although edible only really in the context that it won't actually kill you). Reeks of ammonia - they serve it in sealed jars.

Anyway - tourist food yesterday, proper Icelandic food today, which pretty much means either fish or cured meats. They seem to be trying to fatten me up. I'm on the 3rd meal of the day already.

Just had Sea Urchin gonads.

I didn't know sea urchins had gonads to be honest. They were ok. Just a bit slimy

There's a great restaurant in London called St John, v near Smithfield market, that's a 'nose to tail' place. Ears, trotters, offal the whole lot. Think it might have a Michelin star, or used to have. Their speciality is marrowbone jelly and toast. Delicious.

The gonads were yesterday actually. Just finished a feijoada, which is a buffet serving pretty much every part of a pig, with black beans and rice.

Lovely, just can't move now, hence the FISO posting!

Will have to remember that. Had the trotter in Lyon in one of the Bouchon restaurants, I highly recommend it.

I had calves brain a couple of weeks back. Can't say it tasted bad, but I struggle with textures and I'm still haunted by it (had a sweet and sour sweetbread burger as part of the same meal) and that's still seared in my mind too.

I've had all the above and loved them.

This assumes the rumours about McDonalds' burgers are true.

We had all manner of offal as kids - brains (calves & lambs), tripe (cows stomach), fish heads, tongue (which I still dislike), pigs trotters, heart and most other stuff - except eyes I think?

This most disgusting thing I've had the misfortune to eat was in my year off (school to uni) when I worked in a pub and had digs at a farm. The Farmer loved his Game and loved it especially when it was as high as possible - rotten in my language. This pheasant had been hanging for weeks - wash the maggots off and cook.

Just revolving!

Revolting too!

My dog has killed 3 pheasants in our garden in the last year or so, without really damaging them as potential food. They are a real delicacy. To some. Mine went straight in the bin!

Jesus, I forgot about tongue.
My mum used to buy us tongue when I was a kid. Absolutely vile.
