Thanks to a fiso member booking a week at the apartment, the dates I have left over the Summer Holidays are up to Mon 1 Aug and from Tues 9 Aug to Wed 17 Aug.
And that member was me...............
So after a week in Spain thought I would write a few comments on Admin's place in case anyone is thinking of renting it out.
It's situated in the South-East of Spain about an hour's drive from Alicante airport (Murcia is even closer). The apartment itself is lovely - located within a golf resort. If anyone is looking for a quiet break, then I recommend this place. The resort is not very populated (by buildings or people) and is very peaceful away from any main roads. There are currently 2 swimming pools and sunbathing areas on site, with the nearest beach being about a 20 minute drive away.
The apartment is fully furnished and has air-conditioning in all of the rooms. There's also a washing machine so you don't need to worry about taking one or two week's worth of clean clothes. It's self-catering and there is a great gas BBQ where we cooked on a couple of the evenings but the nearest town is only about 20 minutes away so there are plenty of places to eat out there as well.
Unlike some of the Canary islands or the Costa Del Sol, there did not seem to be an abundance of English people about - in fact, on the beach we visited a couple of times, we only heard English being spoken once - the rest of the time was Spanish and a little Dutch. However there were a number of people at the golf resort who were English but I only realised this as I saw people buying English newspapers from across the road at the supermarket.
As Admin has lived in the apartment previously there were loads of things in there that helped make the holiday more enjoyable, such as a big cool box that we loaded with food and drinks to take to the beach; a huge book collection, so no need to take any abroad and digital TV so I could watch the Community Shield without having to find a local bar!
The weather was great (mid 30s) and we were able to sunbathe until 8pm on most evenings as it was still fairly hot. The best part was that there was a fantastic breeze that ran through the complex so it kept us cool and allowed us to spend a bit more time in the sun without "melting". There is a supermarket, restaurant and bar on site but we preferred to get out of the resort and explore the little towns around. As the complex is so close to the sea, there are plenty of restaurants serving excellent fish, seafood and paella - however they do cater for non-fish liking people as well and we saw plenty of restaurants with steak, chicken, pasta, pizza etc.
Even though it was just Mrs Stuboy and myself, everywhere we went seemed to be kid friendly and there were a number of families staying in the complex.
I'd highly recommend the apartment and location - the other nice touch is Admin supplies you with a 15 page booklet with suggestions and recommendations and instructions on where everything is in the apartment. With that we were able to drive from the airport, find places to eat, beaches to visit etc.
Now hopefully this recommendation will get me a reduction in price for next year
