Non book reader needed a Novel

Looking for a book to take on holiday this week

I think I have read three books in the last 8 years..

A Curious incident of a dog in the night - About a austistic boys struggle
Marine Sniper - A book about the US Marine Hathcock
Lords of Chaos - A criminology about Norweigen black metal!

I have decided I am going to take Derren Browns trick of the mind and Frank Skinners autobiography but also I would like a funny novel?

Any ideas?

Whilst not really "novels" as such, they are good books both a result of a bet he had with Arthur Smith. In the former, he is wagered that he can't hitch hike around the whole of Eire with a small fridge in tow too. In the latter, he has to track down the entiry Moldovan football team and beat them all in a set of tennis.

I know they may sound stupid, but they really are interested. (And true stories I believe).

Think it was the third or fourth and got all supernatural. Was poor. I've stuck to the TV version since.

On a similar vein of comedy/parody novels, Jasper Ffordes 'Thursday Next' series is very good and also Tom Holt, I'd pick Faust among Equals of his.

As much as I would always encourage people to read Jasper Fforde, I think the Thursday Next series is more enjoyable if you have a little knowledge of literature (especially Jane Eyre).

I would second these suggestions - excellent entertaining reads.

In a similar style, the most I have ever laughed whilst reading was Danny Wallace's 'Yes Man'.

Cannot go wrong with Wodehouse, Jeeves, blandings, mr mulliner, psmith, ukridge series all sensational. Shortish too. Also some more than 50 yrs old so can get them on project Gutenberg on the kindle.

Not in fashion these days, but love Tom Sharp books, to me very funny, ones have read, my fav was Porterhouse Blues.
First book of his I read was Riotous Assembly a work of genius.
