Best Fantasy Genre Books for my stepson

Post by ctibbits »

My stepson is almost 13 and is an avid reader. He is really into the fantasy genre and I am looking for some books to give him for Christmas. Any ideas? He has already read the Hobbit and LOTR, The Percy Jackson books, Hunger Games, Rangers Apprentice series. Thanks for any suggestions.

My first recommendation would be Piers Anthony's Xanth series for a young reader. Terry Brook's Shannara series a second, slight more mature. Trudi Canavan's magician trilogy was aimed at the younger audience.

For a more serious read Feist's Magician is an awesome standalone and opens a whole world of fiction.

Oh to be 13 and to re-read all those <nostalgic/whistful emojithing>

A couple of obvious ones would be The Maze runner series and the Divergent series.

Yeah he showed no interest in the movies so I assumed he wouldn't want to read these
