Thanks Wilbert. I will choose "Last Kingdom" my original choice, although I don't have a e reader, I will do my best to source whichever book is chosen from a second hand book store if the e reader approach is chosen.

Cheers Wilbert (and Achiles for a very good idea).
I'll have a think and make a suggestion in the next couple of days.

The Ragged-Trousered Philanthropists - Robert Tressell
A bit politically socialist but it's one I've been meaning to read for a while.

I'm happy to read (or re-read) anything, but if I don't enjoy a book, I won't finish it. I'll have a think about nominations later...

Re: Fiso book club - March 2014
The Last Kingdom is a great book and, probably more importantly, the opener of a great series. From memory t works fine as a stand alone book
A strange choice for a book club as it is 10 years old (the series is still ongoing though - on about book 5 now).
Not at all keen on the other proposal and wouldn't read it, we'd probably be better off sticking to fiction (or sports books?), at least initially.
To get me onboard you are going to have to come up with something good as I have a load of great books queuing up to be read (including the last couple of Bernard Cornwell's!)

A sporting biography I'd be interested in reading (not sure why I haven't already) is John McEnroe 'Serious'.

Re: Fiso book club - March 2014
Not sure about biographies, especially as so many of the more famous people will have it ghost-written. I will nominate Jasper Fforde's Shades of Grey (not the Mummy-porn book!).

Re: Fiso book club - March 2014
I've just started Life After Life, so I'll be lazy and nominate that.
Life After Life is a 2013 novel by Kate Atkinson. It won the 2013 Costa Book Awards (Novel) and was shortlisted for the 2013 Orange Prize for Fiction and It was also selected as one of the 10 Best Books of 2013 by the editors of the New York Times Book Review.

Knackers, forgot about this.
Was going to nominate 'On the Road' by Jack Kerouac
A classic of its time and for some reason, I've never read it. Can you bank that for next month please?
I'm in.

I think we talk about the book once we've all read it.
(But the more you protest about it I imagine it might get more votes )
