Just bought the psychopath test, looking forward to that.
Just finished Zeitoun by Dave Eggers, about a Syrian man caught up in hurricane Katrina, it's a true story, not really the kind of thing I'd normally read but it was fascinating.
Also reading the 100 year old man who climbed out of the window.

I've only read 02 & 13 off your list but enjoyed both a lot. This is what I like to read. Its not Tolstoy I know, but hey ho. I'll deffo mark your recommendation for "Spycatcher" - though the only Dunn book Ive tried - "Spartan" waffled on a bit. Maybe the Hobb book too :D In that type of genre if I may, Id also recommend:

David Baldacci - 'Zero Day' - John Puller is Army CID
Matt Hilton - The Joe Hunter series (Hunter is like a British Vigilante Reacher..)

David Baldacci - 'The Innocent' - Will Robie a sanctioned assassin
Tom Wood - Victor the Assassin
Mark Greaney - 'The Gray Man' - Courtland Gentry is a cut about Tier 1 wet work assassins
Derek Haas - Columbus The Silverbear, a Silverbear (assassin) always gets it done

and for a little bit different;
Jason Dean - 'The Wrong Man' - James Bishop is in Close Protection
Sean Black - 'Lockdown' - Ryan Lock is a Bodyguard
Brett Battles - Jonathan Quinn is a 'Cleaner'

Hope some of those appeal :)

Thanks for that. Will try and check out some of those recommendations. I've read one of the Matt Hilton books and also The Cleaner by Brett Battles and liked those.

Might give David Baldacci a try next.

Barry Eisler's 'John Rain' series is one you will also probably like given what you've said above.

Noticed the new Jack Reacher book out in paperback when had a quick scan round Waterstones lunchtime.

Thankfully, no picture of Tom Cruise on the front.

Finally finished the Wheel of time series over 20 years after reading the first book but went back to book 6. The author Robert Jordan died before completing the work but worked closely with Brandon Sanderson during the last few months of his life to explain his copious notes and the storyline.

Lord of Chaos
A Crown of Swords
The Path of Daggers
Winter's Heart
Crossroads of Twilight
Knife of Dreams
The Gathering Storm
Towers of Midnight
A Memory of Light

Now reading Pratchet in order

The Colour of Magic
The Light Fantastic
Equal Rites

From your list TK. I've only read number 8.

It was a belter of a read. I could hardly put it down and have lent it out to 4 other people since.

WWI and WWII books always grab my attention.

Read very few of those books, but Zen is one of my favourites. OK, it's a bit dated and Pirsig had definitely been taking something when he wrote the last 1/3 of the book, but there's some quality stuff in there.

From memory, this year I've read:
Born To Run - enjoyable read about an expedition to meet and race a remote tribe that run ultra distances.
Anna Karenina - didn't really live up to expectations; preferred Les Miserables.
Going to Sea in a Sieve - Danny Baker autobiography. Not everyone's cup of tea but I enjoyed it.
The Knife of Never Letting Go - first of the Chaos Walking trilogy. Loved it and looking forward to the next two.

I've just started on Crime and Punishment but suspect this may get derailed by the second CW book.
