If Sahin is the signing which gets us back to the moneypit which is the CL then the loan is very good money spent.
Either way I still believe we have a option to sign him on a perm deal next summer.

Very few world class playmakers in the world.

Pretty sure that was same response I got last season when I thought they had way overpaid for players.
Agree class playmakers are few (at least available one's) thats what in my view makes it even dafter, at best you are spending £9mil on him, if as you hope he does well, you expect Real to let you buy him if as could happen he does not do as well as you hope he will then be let go by Real for around lets say£11 mil, so you could hae a player who is not what you need for £20mil and you think thats good way to run club

There are stories that Sahin is viewed as Xabi Alonso's replacement at RM, Mourinho has sent him to England to 'toughen up' & adapt to a more physical game. Next Summer he'll go back to RM & Alonso (with 1 year left on his contract) will return to Liverpool (for a cut price fee).

Watching Sahin's first interview he stated in it that Alonso still has a great love for liverpool, so I would not be surprised or unhappy to see Alonso back at Liverpool.

Arsenals spending policy last season resulted in no cup finals and no trophys AGAIN.

BUT it did result in Arsenal once again losing their Talisman and a decent midfielder because they want to win something in their careers.

ie Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla although in Arsenals defence you did sell your best 2 players on last season RVP and song to fund those signings I will admit

I think Dalglish did good buiness in swapping Suarez and Carroll for Torres( ain't been the same since) and Babel and showing a profit.

Spurs last season were probably paying £4-5 mio per season for the services of Adebayor and he was on loan.

I doubt Liverpool are paying Sahin anywhere near as much as i suspect he is not even on half of Adebayors salary then or now. Whether he is good for Liverpool remains to be seen in how Rodgers deploys him.

Your right in respect dont know details but do know you topped Afc offer by a way, my comments are based on actual quotes from Madrid manager granted published in Madrid mouthpiece Marca, but that has not been to my knowledge challenged by pool.

I think anyone would of topped Arsenals offer i reckon Basildon FC would of paid him more.

Arsenal are more intered in the balance sheet as you know.

Arsenal have a wage structure, I suspect they wanted RM to part of Sahin wages however Liverpool paid all of his wages.

You can't expect RM to pay Arsenal to use Sahin, they are not a Man City with bucket loads of money.

Bet Sahin was enamoured with the vocal support at Anfield against City- which i have to admit has been missing in alot of games- compared to what he might of experienced at the Library.


Might be difficult to dislodge Sterling from the team after another impressive performance. Can't wait to see Sterling skin Mertcacker next week..

Liverpool set to offer West Ham £40million for striker.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers is hoping to entice new West Ham signing Andy Carroll back to Anfield just 72 hours after the out-of-favour striker left the club.

The club, who are level on points with Aston Villa, plan to use the January transfer window to offer Carroll a lucrative deal worth £40m and as much hay as he can eat.

Rodgers let the Plan B striker leave for Upton Park as he was convinced he would bring in Fulham’s Clint Dempsey with the offer of a semi-detached house in Bootle with round-the-clock CCTV coverage.

However, the deal fell through with Liverpool’s owners understood to be reluctant to meet Dempsey’s £20k demand for a new kitchen extension and perpendicular breakfast bar.

Carroll Liverpool target

Rodgers admitted last night that Carroll’s departure and Dempsey’s failure to sign has left him with fewer striking options than a South African miner.

Liverpool FC are not alone in missing Carroll. Since his move to West Ham, bars and strip-joints in the city centre have reported their takings are down by 50%.

If it's Henderson, he will probably play alongside or slightly behind Allen, with Gerrard ahead

If it's Sahin, Allen will probably play deepest either with Sahin alongside or slightly ahead with Gerrard in the hole

To further muddy the waters he may play Suso in the hole & drop Gerrard deep

He may even do something out of the blue & play Assaidi or Suarez in the ACM role. Or even Allen in the ACM with Gerrard lying deep with either Sahin or Henderson


He may also go with 2 ACM's & just 1 holding. Small squad but lots of options....


I think he'll go with Sahin but I wouldn't be confident about it.

I thought he used a central 3 at Swansea, with Sigguringsonssonssson, a bit more advanced of the other two, but not really a "hole" player". More 4-3-2-1 or 4-2-1-2-1; rather than 4-2-3-1, and certainly not 4-2-3-1.

I know nothing of his Reading and Watford (?) formations, though.
