Jonathan Grounds has been recalled from his loan spell at Norwich City by parent club Middlesbrough.

He has been recalled as Boro manager Gareth Southgate is short of cover following suspensions and injuries.

Gary O'Neil missed the latter part of the week's training with illness. Andrew Taylor is having a hip injury assessed by Boro's medical staff and Jonathan Grounds has been recalled from his successful loan spell at Norwich City to provide cover. Robert Huth is struggling with an ankle problem.

Julio Arca has suffered a setback after feeling his ankle injury in training a week ago. The Argentine is currently in his homeland seeing a specialist. Tuncay continues his recovery from a medial knee ligament injury, while Rhys Williams has returned to his native Australia as he nurses damaged lateral knee ligaments. Emanuel Pogatetz serves the second game of a three-match ban for his dismissal at Old Trafford in the Carling Cup.

No confirmation yet on Boro's webside.

Good news for Wheater fans as imo he has been played out of pos for most of the season at right back as Pogatez(currently banned) and Huth have held the centre back positions.
No suprise back at Centre half last Saturday they kept a clean sheet with Wheater at the helm alongside Riggott.

PERSONALLY i reckon they are pretty much on the right tracks.

The official site:
Emanuel Pogatetz serves the last of his three game suspension following his dismissal in the Carling Cup defeat to Manchester United.

Scans on Robert Huth's injured ankle have revealed the German will be out three to four weeks with ligament damage.

Mido withdrew from the Egyptian squad for the game against Djbouti last Saturday with a groin complaint and will be assessed ahead of this game.

Tuncay has returned to light training this week and is ahead of schedule, but the game will come too soon for the Turk.

Julio Arca has completed his conditioning programme in his native Argentina and is due back this weekend with a view to starting training at the start of next week.

Official site:
Tuncay took part in training this week after being out since the beginning of September with knee ligament damage. The Turk is very much part of the squad for the trip to Lancashire, while Juio Arca[sic...] is also close after returning to training on Thursday.

Robert Huth is recovering well from an ankle ligament injury and it's hoped he will be available again next week. Emanuel Pogatetz [...] has served his three-match suspension after his Carling Cup dismissal and is available for the trip to Ewood Park. Justin Hoyte is struggling with a groin injury that kept him out of last Saturday's defeat to Chelsea.

Lots of changes going on at my Club and hard to come up with anything concrete so far suffice to say that following Subotic acquisition falling over will Boro go for another CB?

Think Ben Gibson and Daniel Ayala will be the first choice pairing but there is a question mark of Ayala's fitness at the moment. The other choice is Baptiste who will not be first choice.

There are two RIght Backs I hope he goes with Nsue who is a good attacking wing back but Karanka now has Valencia bought Barrigan option. Left back berth is George Friend's and it will be really interesting to see if he makes the grade in the PL. I think he will.

Midfield - in comes Marten de Roon who will be Leadbitters replacement. Know little of him but observers say he is a good buy. Clayton is the other defensive mid. Neither fantasy material. Clayton will pick up tons of yellows good though he is at his job. Adomah when in the mood can be worth a punt. Looking forward to seeing how he will fare. Negredo I know no more than anybody else. Both Stuani and Nugent may not be in the squad come opening weekend. Neither recommended for a fantasy team. Downing isn't a 100% starter either. He had an inconsistent season and many were left disappointed with his contributions. The interesting new addition is Victor Fisher. Highly thought of Dane winger who was bought from Ajax. There is talk though he may be part of the Danish Olympic squad however. Watch that space but one to possibly keep an eye on for a bargain. Finally Ramirez was a key player on loan in the promotion last season and delighted he has been acquired. I know he's done little when playing for Soton or Hull in the PL but Karanka may get the best out of him.

Any thoughts on who the first choice keeper will be. The new signing Valdes or Konstantopoulos ?

Surely Valdes won't have joined another PL club to sit on the bench...

Had a good season last year and deserves his chance despite the new acquisition from Valencia of Braddigan. I think he will start. As for keeper Valdes should start.
