With the music about to stop in a couple of days, to the crescendo of the Bale transfer, we're left to reflect on one of the biggest bring and buy sales Premier League history  . The big questions are whether this is method or madness and how long does AVB have to make a team out of all the new individuals??

In (total £105.7m)
Capoue £9m
Chadli £7m
Chiriches £8.5m
Eriksen £11.5m
Lamela £25.7m
Paulinho £17m
Saldado £26m

Rose - returning from loan
Townsend - returning from loan

Out (estimated total, so far, £108m)
Adebayor ???
Bale £86m
Bentley - contract ended
Caulker £8m
Dempsey £6.75m
Ekotto ???
Gallas - contract ended
Huddlestone £5.25m
Parker £2m

Livermore - out on loan (might be folllowed by one or two of the promising youngsters who might now struggle to get any game time - Kane, Fryers and Carroll)

Proven PL performers out and an army of CK's in! Yet I think they're stronger as a result :P

With the window now closed, will Rose continue to play at LB or will Vertonghen move over from CB?

Wasn't Capoue stretchered off at the weekend?

Edit - out for 4 weeks, which is not as bad as first feared. Sandro to play alongside Dembele in the middle then?

yup

i think dembele is going to be seeing far fewer starts and expect paulinho and a healthy cpoue to start most games.

Well...only a couple of loans out to help Harry at QPR on deadline day. Nice to keep out of the last minute lolly scramble for a change.Hope that Tom Carroll gets plenty of game time - he looks to be a real star in the making.

Presumably the task of getting rid of Adebayor was postponed until Jan, because of the recent death of his brother; it will be interesting to see if Ade puts in a few decent shifts off the bench now he's effectively in the shop window.

I wonder if Arsenal will give the Ozil purchase money directly to Spurs as they have effectively paid half of Bale's transfer fee! Great players, but absolutely ludicrous prices. While I wish Bale good luck at Reality-Challenged Madrid, I really fear for him in that insane bear pit, because he cannot possibly live up to that fee.

As for the collection of strangers that suffled ineffectively around Sheikh Stadium on Sunday - it's going to take time, and let's hope that Lamela and Eriksen can provide the creative inspiration that's been absent in the first 3 league games.

Eriksen highly rated by DB, will watch with interest to see how he goes. Said before Spurs brought good players but gelling those in time demanded by fans and media could be a problem. Hope not seen as a pop at Spurs, but not sure you needed quite so many and am sure your manager knows better than me, but to me with my granted limited knowledge. they dont seem to be type that fits into what seems his preferred set up.
Last season if Sandro not out they would I think got 4th, now dont see how he will fit in with Dembale, who were brilliant together, thats daft to lose that. Soldado seems to be a player who needs service, Eriksen seems to be only player who could do that, not seen enough of him to know if it will happen.
Interesting times ahead, as do think that Pool took big steps in making up gap between both Spurs and Afc, that top 4 is going to be a battleground.

I am not convinced by MU, and they need RvP to fire or they will struggle to score consistently, imho, due to their lack of flare\creativity so it could be an interesting scrap for 3rd to 6th?

Everton are not there yet; and Swansea have the EL so I would rule them out of it, unless Laudrup has just picked up another Michu on deadline day.

does this mean chadli still has no competition for the left wing forward role?

lamela competes with lennon & townsend for right wing forward (lamela should still get all the league starts, mind)
in the hole, theres erikson and paulinho. when erikson plays, paulinho should get shunted into the central midfield (yuck) role
forward theres soldado defoe ade etc

but left wing... only chadli?!

How 'nailed on' is Vertonghen?

I ask as Rose appears to be 'flavour of the month' in TFFland (with no real LB rival??) and is cheap but Verto' is the same price and is surely a valid alternative with his presence at corners etc??

Lamela or Eriksen, who is more nailed on to start every game or are they both nailed on? Who will be given a more attacking role?

Barring injuries, they will probably both start most Premiership games. However, their careers to date suggest that Lamela is the more attacking player, scores the most goals and (even with the Bale bundle) Spurs are hardly likely to have shelled out nearly 26 large ones for a bench player.

Meanwhile, Adebayor is still in Toga and will return to training with the stiffs. Harry is sniffing around, of course, but I'm not sure if Ade fancies the Championship or QPR can pay the Spurs component of his wages.

Lamela killed me last year but I heard he has been playing in pre season and has a free role behind the striker. Any Spurs fans out there who can let me know will he start and what they expect from him?

his role is still very much up in the air, i suspect he will be on the right wing when the season starts.

i honestly think he could crush it this year, but eriksen is also looking like a good shout as well.

So how do we think Spurs will line-up this season? Who will be the centre back pairing with all the transfer talk about Dawson? Who will get the nod at left back? What order will they lineup behind the striker?

-----------------------Lloris---------------------------------
Walker----Vertonghnen-------Dawson?----Davies/Rose?
-----Dembele/Capoue?----------Paulinho-------------
-----------Townsend/Lamela/Holtby/Eriksen--
-------------------Adebayor-------

For what its worth this is my prediction. Perhaps in fantasy football hope that Lamela will play behind the striker.

--------------------Lloris----------------
Walker----Vertonghnen-------New signing----Rose
----------Capoue----------Paulinho-------------
---Townsend----Lamela-----Eriksen
-----------------Adebayor------------------

Blasted is an exaggeration, he should still start. Adebayor/Eriksen/Lamela/& 1 other for the front 4.

Various options making Spurs very risk/reward in terms of dreamteam selection. Townsend could have been seen as the most probable but there is some support for Holtby having emerged as a dark horse and Lennon has played better recently too. Tricky

Is Adebayor a cast iron 100% first choice striker? Soldado seems to have gotten a few goals preseason but mostly off the bench.

Soldado hasn't been convincing despite his "lucky" goals and I think Ade will get the nod in the end. However with Spurs having the 5 games in the first DT section, any advantage could be negated if Poc decides his 2nd choice striker plays the 2 europa league games in which he may score more points than the 3 games for the first choice league striker. Very much a guessing game from a DT perspective.
