Looking for some inside info before Spurs smash West Ham on Sat.
I was impressed with the high pressing offensive play by Soton last season without the ball, by forward players when opposition had the ball last year, so i'm expecting this to be installed in Spurs offensive play this season.

Only problem i have is selecting what Spurs player to have in my team, as it looks like the whole squad got a run out v Schalke.

Any Spurs fans out there who might be able to provide any useful information as to what the starting line up might be, please help as i'm very confused and cant even guess what the formation will be, let alone who will play.

How long is Walker out for, will Naughton play?
Who will play at LB, Rose or Davies?
Who will be the 2 CB?
Who will start out of Lamela, Erikson, Lennon, Townsend, Holtby?
Will Spurs play 1 or 2 up top?

Please help Spurs fans.
Thanks in advance

Cheers for quick response.
Is Walker out for long?
Will Naughton play or someone else?
So Townsend sub?

Are you sure Holtby wont force his way in? Hes been good pre season and has been described as a Pochetino type of player, whatever that is

Really haven't got a clue how Spurs will line up first game, got to be a guessing game.

Im still nervous about Lamela starting? Surely he will? Wont he? :?

Watched all of Spurs' friendlies and was at the game v Schalke on Saturday. From what I've seen I would say this team will likely start:

--------------------Lloris----------------
Naughton----Kaboul-------Vertonghen----Davies
----------Sandro----------Holtby-----------
---Townsend------Lamela-----Eriksen---
------------------Adebayor------------------

Least certain are Sandro (any of Paulinho, Capoue, Bentaleb or Dembele could start there), Davies (Rose) & Townsend (Lennon). Naughton is unfortunately nailed on at right back while Walker is injured and Holtby has played his way in I think, as has Townsend. This is just a guess though :)

Davies is not nailed on to start by any means and Spurs fans in the office thought Rose played well enough against Schalke to perhaps get the nod on Saturday.

Nope, Davies is not nailed on at all and it is 50/50 between him and Rose, who did do well against Schalke. Davies is less hot headed and better defensively though and it's possible Pochettino may go with the safer option in an away local derby.

humbly disagree

Davies should start, but by no means a lock. I'd give it 75%
I cant see Dawson starting, most likely Kaboul imo
Lamela and Erikson for sure, Holtby somewhat likely, and a flip of a coin between townsend and lennnon. which doesnt matter because only eriksen and Lamela are goot shouts.
they havent been playing two up top at all, i cant see why they would start now. My money is Soldado until Ade is fit. If Ade is fit then he should have the striker role

Tottenham open to offers for up to 11 players

Seems that the club wants to trim the squad down to 25 by selling 5 of the following...

Assou-Ekotto
Dawson
Townsend
Soldado
Chadli

Capoue
Lennon

Naughton (leaves no RB cover)
Chiriches (leaves no CB cover)

Sandro
Dembele

Listed in my view of expendability - selling the last 2 would be just plain daft

@Matt_Law_DT: No link but Tottenham have not appealed Naughton's ban. Vertonghen set to return for QPR with Dier playing at right back.

Can anyone tell me if the Spurs V Ael Limmasol game is on telly anywhere on Thursday? Not coming up on my usual 'football on TV planner'

If you go into any bookmakers and get a fixed odds coupon it will have it listed which, if any, tv station it is on

Dawson looks Hull-bound and Southampton have bid for Andros Townsend...

http://www.espnfc.com/story/2001884/sou ... ources-say

Tom Carroll has been loaned out to Swansea for the rest of the season...

Looking at the limited use of Paulinho and Sandro thus far, it wouldn't be surprising to see one of them going in the next week. Personally, I'd rather it was Paulinho but I suspect that it will be Sandro (no post WC reason for being on the outer).

Looks like Spurs engine room but he's never gonna be a prolific points scorer

Good point. When he finally scores I bet everyone jumps on him, but you're right, that won't be too often. I guess at the price though, he can sit on your bench (in FPL, not some other games)

odds of him scoring a goal are almost non-existent, and there are more locked in starters guaranteeing you 2 points when you need them. I dont see any point in picking him.

Dawson gone for 6 million...replaced by Frederico Fazio at 8 million. Looks like a decent bit of business...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -deal.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hope his performances match his looks - but only 148 league appearances in 7 years at Sevilla is a bit of a concern. Big lad (6" 5') wonder what he's like on the deck?

Sandro to QPR  for an 'undisclosed fee' or 6 million - depending on the source. Only makes sense to me if an accurate assessment has been made that he'll never regain the standard he was playing at before the injury (ironically incurred on that Lotus Road dung heap) - before then it would have been 15-20 million to a CL club. Perhaps there is also an element of an Argentinian manager not liking Brazilians?

Replacement is a second-string Frog...Benjamin Stambouli - thought that we already had one of those in Capoue!

Other departures are Zeiki Fryers to Palace and Lewis Holby on loan (again) to Hamburg.

So...not the major clear-out cited above and the sum total of the window is basically some defensive tinkering. Hopefully, that might actually improve this aspect of Spurs' game? Nothing new offensively - the plan appears to be to wait until Jay Jay Rodriguez is closer to fitness and get him in January (possibly by offering Townsend or Lennon in part exchange). Until then...looks very much like a repeat of last season is on the cards.

To be fair, thre is no info on the

Hazard injury
Dier injury
Sturridge injury
Ramsey injury
Costa injury
Skrtel injury

and probably a host of others.

is this a pre-requisite of joining up for meaningless eff internationals for 2 weeks, 2 weeks into a new season when 10 eff games are pointless when every group is geared up for the same 16 teams to get thru to a championship 2 years down the road.

Be alot of late night burning on Friday night doingtransfers and weekly dream teams after gathering snippets from team interviews and trying to pre-guess how serious any individiual injury is.

at least when Giggs pulled out of an international committment you always knew he would be fit for Saturday.
