In the wake of the Oviedo injury Everton have recalled left-back Luke Garbutt from his loan spell at Colchester. Back up to Baines, and yet another indicator that we won't be dipping back into the transfer market this month. Certainly not for someone to cover the left side anyway.

Reports also suggesting Heitinga has/had flown to Turkey to speak with Galatasaray. Hopefully that means we are confident at least 2 of Distin/Jags/Alcaraz will be fit for tonight.

any thoughts on Stones, whether he'll pay with Jagielka or is it still Distin and will stones be filling in in colemans absence?

personally think it will be jags and distin but Stones could pick up a lot o'shea's - depending on which game you are playing I would suggest there are better options (for now!)

I was thinking of taking a punt on him in the Sun Dream team to help free funds further up field. May have been a good shout if he was going to oust Distin but think I'll look elsewhere initially, may be one to transfer in though, thanks!

So a 2 all draw in the opening game, one which we dominated but Leicester prob had the best chance in.

Barry should have been sent off, he looked off the pace, however the ref let an awful lot go all game so wasn't surprised when he didnt bring out the second yellow

Baines and Pienaar just work and were best two players imo, McGeady and Naismith both with good goals. Defensive fragility showed with a Distin scuff and Jag (tackle/pass) to Wood. Stones out of position for the second and good to see Coleman come on as a sub in second half.

Lukaku - off the pace and im sure if we had another option up top he wouldnt have played (as was the case with Mirrallas)

We looked tired in second half, not sure if it was complacency or the fact we know we have two tough games to follow.

Now hearing Barkley out for 5 months, another striker/creative player now essential otherwise come Jan we could be out of the lot.

I think let Gibson Alcaraz distin Hibbert retire
Sell Kone mcgeady
Sell miralles if he is still unsettled
Bring in a striker a centre back and another winger as well as Lennon

After watching the Leeds friendly, I would be slightly worried. Leeds looked to be finely tuned for kick off next week and Everton desperately need to do the same. They were poor against a mid table Championship side.

The team that was put out today had tomorrow's game against Villarreal very much in mind. 2nd choice keeper, a back four made up entirely of kids and a mixture of youth/experience elsewhere.

Surely a mixture if youth and experience is a good thing?

Was it a case of the players were good and experienced - but unfortunately the ones that were good were not experienced and the ones that were experienced were not good?

I didn't say it wasn't, but in no way is the team that played against Leeds gonna be the team that opens the season against Watford. Not even close. A good experience for the kids and they'll benefit from it. Not a memorable performance, but I can't get too despondent based on a defeat against an experienced Leeds 1st XI. Jimmy says we should be "slightly worried" based on today's performance - well there's plenty to be worried about, but a second string Everton losing today isn't one of them.

We have 2 games in two days. Today's team had a lot of youth players and second stringers.

Can't really read anything into it.

Although it does make me wonder what the purpose of it was. Tomorrow will be a bit of a mess around with Rooney and Ferguson getting a run.

We're at an important point in preseason. Seems a bit like we're just fooling around.

The back five will pick itself tomorrow and you can make a guess at the midfield roughly....but I'm really scratching my head at who he's going to play upfront. Can't see Kone playing twice in 2 days (even if neither appearances are full games), and Naismith played the full game today (not that he should be our focal point in attack. Ever!). Lukaku is injured.

McAleny? He got on today, so will he even be involved? Henen?? Can't think of any other options.

Doubt United will let us start Rooney!

Hibbert up front? Maybe Tim C's coming back?

The only option I can think of is Mirallas who only played 15 minutes yesterday.

Dunc and Rooney would surely play no more than 15 minutes?

Has anyone any idea who is going to be the first choice keeper this season?

Perhaps he has yet to sign for Everton?

Around 2010 Stekelenberg looked like he was going to be a top top keeper, but we're still waiting.

Looking at either Deulofeu or Mirralas for the start. Both 6.5, any good arguments to persuade me either way?

Any thoughts on whether Holgate will be a regular when he returns from injury? 4.4m in FPL would be a real bargain.
