Don't think I'll bother with the next series. This series was a bit rubbish. Don't overly like Capaldi's character and there was no chemistry with Clara due to the age gap and now she has gone anyway. Missy has been the only high point of late (other than looking at Clara). Young Doris from GoT was ok but her character went dull after being a highwaywoman.

Only a Christmas special this year, no new series until spring 2017, Moffats last.
Reasons given partly to having Euros & Olympics, these with a new series would spoil us according to the BBC1 controller.
Not happy about that.

I assumed it was about more than that... there's nothing unusual about a broadcaster doing that as far as I know.

I assumed the comment was a joke about the usual anti-BBC bias but didn't know what the counterpoint was.

They do run ads, all the time, and in programmes too. MOTD often has promos for SPOTY or a Red Nose day thing. Sure, they don't run ads in the middle of an episode of a show but event TV is always different. I'm still missing what's unusual here.

I predict that I'm going to find the Dr Who ad a lot less irritating than one for beer or credit cards, that's for sure.

Not having heard of her doesn't bother me but the intro did seem quite forced. I suppose there's not a lot they can do about that though, it always takes time for change to seem right.

Thought the hype might pull me back in but that trailer was awful. She had no charm or appeal and there did seem to be the chance she will be annoyingly thick.

I think we have to hope that they're not that shortsighted. The show works with a grumpy timelord partnered with a snarky whippersnapper and with Clara being the hit she was they surely won't try to reinvent the wheel.

Anyway, it's just a kids show and I only watch it to keep the children happy.
