So so biopic. Humorous and well acted (Bale is great in a McConaughey-esque performance). Overall not too bad. 7/10

Funnily enough I was only talking about this flick last night; it's one of those that really stuck with me after viewing and I'd support RB's recommendation.

Really enjoyed warm bodies Razor
Sympathetic zombies is a good idea
Been watching lots of rubbish horror movies on Netflix recently - they get a boatload of cheapies
Tonight's offering is better than usual - beast within (aka virus undead)
Traditional zombie stuff - by the numbers but fun all the same
3.6 on IMDB is a bit stingy think a 6/10 is more like it
Reviewers on IMDB are pretty snooty when it comes to horror movies

Re: Favourite Movies on the Box
Found time to catch up with this on Netflix and it definitely is interesting. I don't think I've seen a film where it's set (bar a brief setup at the start) all in one room and initially found it very tense. That dissipated after a while but the sci-fi style elements kept me interested and there was a twist similar to that seen in a much bigger cult (?) film that I won't mention so as not to spoil this one. Well worth a watch.Moist von Lipwig wrote:Ah, beat me to it - I've just got the sky never miss reminder I set for it. That channel seems to be showing some good stuff at the minute, I saw Exam was on last week but it was halfway through so waiting to catch a rerun if there is one.

It doesn't look like it is going to be on in the near future

Re: Favourite Movies on the Box
If you or anyone enjoyed Exam, there's a Spanish film called Fermat's Room that has a not too dissimilar idea/plot (set in one room, puzzle etc.)
"Four mathematicians who do not know each other are invited by a mysterious host on the pretext of resolving a great enigma. The room in which they find themselves turns out to be a shrinking room that will crush them if they do not discover in time what connects them all and why someone might wish to murder them. "
Similar imdb score too.

I'll definitely be finishing it off though. Liked what I saw. Just the right amount of quirkiness and intrigue to float my boat. Haven't yet got a clue what's going on though.

Interesting, intriguing, great score, visually stunning, loads of scarlet in all her glory... Incomprehensible story 7/10

Re: Favourite Movies on the Box
Quantum of Solace is on ITV2 at 8:55pm tonight. It's unloved by many but massively underrated in my opinion, nowhere near as good as Casino Royale of course, and not as good as Skyfall either, but still a damn good Bond film.
I won't be re-watching it though, as I'll be in my local movie theatre enjoying the latest Bond film, SPECTRE.

The Al Pacino classic Serpico is on Film4 tonight. 1973 Sidney Lumet-directed masterpiece about corruption in the New York City Police Department. It's on a bit late though, at 1:25am.
And Film4 are showing an absolute classic tomorrow afternoon at 3:35pm, a film that needs no introduction... Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Hard to pick a favourite scene from a movie with so many memorable ones, but if I had to, it would probably be this...

Set my box to tape* Moon tonight. Any good?
* Aren't these new fangled boxes clever that they can be set to automatically hit the record button for you. The speed at which they can also find the right cassette and play things back amazes me too. Not sure how all those tapes fit in there let alone how there is room to move them all about to get the right one to the tape head and so quickly.
