He was simply superb in "Our Friends in the North" as Christopher Ecclestone's (Nicky's ?) Dad. In fact, he was superb all along. This is the role I most remember him for, even though he was in Porridge, Citizen Smith and lately Game of Thrones at a ripe old age.

Great actor. RIP.

PS Anyone who hasn't seen OFITN, watch it. One of the best things ever on TV.
