I think by doing the draft as early as we are here it means there will be a lot of scope to improve teams in the final week before the season starts, plus those who have a poor start get the best opprtunity to bring in the big buys who arrive in the PL through August.

Plus plenty of opportunity for trading

Hope you don't mind I just PM'd everyone listed in the opening post to remind them about this. I don't know which 8 people have joined the league but 2 are missing, I can see from those who signed up that a couple are not regulars on the board so they may never even see this. But anyway 8 is probably a better number so their loss.

Didn't realise a watchlist was so damn painful to put together. Dreadful that you cannot filter by team and position at the same time.

Ya the watchlist needs a serious overhaul. And if you were to enter another draft league you would have to start a new watchlst all over again as you cant copy a previous one

Anyway best of luck to everyone, hopefully I will get a chance to be present for the draft.

The whole draft took about 50 minutes.

With a first pick of Iheanacho I knew it was going to be tough night.

Mignolet - Hennessey
Cahill - Lindelof - Keane - Cedric - Evans
Siggy - Klaassen - Antonio - Ritchie - Ward-Prouse
Iheanacho - Benteke - Chicharito

A balanced team with zero superstars.

The stats are dark and full of errors.

Deliberately picking Ihenacho first? 9th pick and 10th pick yours?

Starting at 7th I've taken a few gambles over players with questions marks to get what I think on paper looks ok - the downside is that currently 6 have triangles against them!

If you're not one of the first 5 your forward line isn't going to be as strong as you'd like - thus being a bit more "balanced"! Not the best, but I'll take it and hope Kane and Aguero pick up niggling injuries!

8th pick here. All the stars were long gone :(

I promise myself every season that Theo Walcott and myself will never be fantasy football friends again, but there he is again smiling up at me from my screen

Lioris, Elliot,
Kalasinac, Bertrand, Matip, Yoshida, Cresswell
David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Tadic, Walcott, Brady
Morato, Firmino, king

Having 9th pick probably proved that the optimal number of entrants is definitely 8 people. As you can see from Ardrageen above he picked Morata and that was the last decent pick.

Maybe I put too much weight on all the advice to go for strikers first so went for Iheanacho and Benteke as my first picks. I've not been through any of the other squads yet but my strikers as a unit look ok. Key mistake was Klaassen but I don't follow FPL so didn't realise he's a deep lying midfielder at the time.

Typing this made me just realise that by having last pick and therefore a shit team means first waiver choice. Hopefully someone amazing signs in the next few days I can pick up...

I would have picked Firmino before Ihenacho? Chicharito should be ok if half the Westham team could get fit? Benteke's in quite a few teams in the Fantasy PL game.

Well I figured Liverpool's players could all be rotated. Firminho must be in competition with Sturridge, Origi, Coutinho, Salah and Mané for a front 3 spot?

Iheanacho should play most games, well that was the theory until he got taken off injured in a preseason game yesterday. Facepalm.

I've cunningly picked six flagged players in the hope I get a slow start and sit bottom of the table whilst the transfer window is still open :D (honest!)

Are we using this thread for the rest of the season for this draft? Anyone using waivers? Any idea how we know if waivers or free agents have been taken up? Looking forward to this!

Yeh I'll be on this thread, good to see how the competition are getting along. I guess I have first pick of waivers but no idea what to do with such a luxury...

I'm not at all happy with my team but who the hell is available that's even worth swapping to?

So the waivers have taken place and it dosen't seem to let you see others peoples waivers. I didn't get Davies so I know Colbert got him but it would be nice to be able to see what everyone did. I suppose its like the main FPL game where you cant see the transfers until after the deadline.

No easy way of seeing transfers made yet. Hopefully something appears after the gameweek deadline passes where we can see all the transactions.

Ardrageen I can see Cresswell is 'locked' and that you picked him originally, so there'd be no real harm in FPL showing who you had picked as it's not like anyone could do much about it anyway.

With Siggy as my #1 midfield choice I needed some stronger backups so Ben Davies and Matty Philips have joined my squad. Not sure I'll even play Davies in GW1 though as all my other defenders are at home.

How did everyone get on?

37 points for my lowly lineup, bolstered by a superb 10 points from my front 6 and of course a -3 from Gary Cahill.
