yeah, i think i was referring more to his perceived hardships/difficulties of being a snooker professional i suppose. it's clear that in terms actually playing the game of snooker, he finds that incredibly easy.

The fact he finds it so easy is his problem I think. He finds no challenge and can't get motivated. He said the other day that he only came back to make some money to pay his childrens school fees. That may have been tongue in cheek but it sums up his attitude and the problem that snooker now faces. A snooker world without Ronnie will see the attraction go and audiences and TV coverage may drop. Other players may benefit if he goes but will lose out in the medium to long term unless another Ronnie comes along. The chances of that are very low as he is so far ahead of any other player.

Re: 2013 Fantasy World Snooker - Now running
Sadly we have this discussion every year, about the state of Ronnie's mind. I had to give it careful consideration when deciding what to value him at.
However, if he's decided he's going to quit, then he should just quit. I will be sorry to see him go, and there'll be no "crowd pleaser" in the style of Messrs Higgins & White, but some-one else will come along. Until that time, snooker following in the UK will drop, but nowadays it's the world-wide figures that Barry Hearne is pushing for. He won't be too bothered if viewing figures are down a little bit over here if he can get an extra 30m people in Asia watching (or whatever the number is).
Edit : Off to put money on Trump to win the semi-final.

Here's the FISO league. The only question is "Can Ronnie win by better than 18-5 to let murf steal the league?"

Here's the final FISO table. Not quite the same FISO domination as last year. I guess it just goes to show that we don't really know much about snooker after all.
Thanks to everyone for playing.

Or that we do know about snooker and are good at finding optimal fantasy competition scoring combinations in a predictable year but when form goes largely out the window, it swings to the advantage of the hoi paloi who get lucky with their random selections.Shaggy365 wrote: I guess it just goes to show that we don't really know much about snooker after all.

I'll update the Knockout Cup tomorrow, as I've left part of my brain in Edinburgh, so worthless trying to sort it tonight.

Re: 2013 Fantasy World Snooker - Now finished
Ta-daa !
Shaggy is the Champ
Surprised pushed him close in the semi but the Ronnie factor was enough to overcome PolarBear in the final.
The seedings for next year will be determined by the league, which was won handsomely by Surprised, with Murf in second, followed by Dingram in third.
As ever, cheers to Shaggy and I await to reconvene same time, same place, next year

'bout time I won something round here, although to be fair, it was only the fact I had Ronnie & none of my opponents had him all the way through.bluenosey wrote:Shaggy is the Champ

Re: 2013 Fantasy World Snooker - Now finished
OK. I hear the comments about the scoring. Next year there'll be an easier budget, but I do like the scoring calculation. I think a player should get more points for beating a top player 10-7, than a lower ranked player 10-7. As commented previously, the results were largely un-predictable, which put a lot of people out of a chance of winning within the first few days of the tournament. TBH if there hadn't been a budget, and people could have just picked any 5 players, there would have still been comments (and a lot of people would have had identical entries).
BTW, if I had just stuck to the old scoring system, murf would have been the best FISO-er, finishing 9th overall.

Hope Shaggy's going to dust off his spreadsheet again?
Seedings for 2014 will be announced on Monday but qualifying will not finish until 16 April!
Ronnie down to provisional 27th so will have to qualify!
http://snooker.org/res/index.asp?template=19" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Still some tickets available for games, including the semi finals.

Of course I didn't click
(I am relatively sure that I heard that he does not have to qualify during some Tournament on BBC, which OK could have been said by one of their numpties who are incredibly stupid )
