Re: Joost
One of the great 9's. Its been sad to see him deteriorate from the ferocious competitor that he was. Strong as a flanker, fast as a winger. One of the enduring memories of watching the Boks in his heyday was Joost suddenly bursting from the base of a ruck, scrum or maul, slicing straight through everyone and scoring.
Horrible disease, but he was a great ambassador and did a huge amount to raise awareness (and funds) for ALS / MND.
RIP Joost

38 tries in 89 appearances only tells a fraction of the story.

Re: Joost
RIP, no age at all even though we'd known it was coming for a long time. Hard to believe he and Lomu, two of the main protagonists of that World Cup final that effectively launched the professional union game along with the reformed South African nation, are no longer with us. Unlike many of that side he stayed around to lead the next generation and stood out as a world class player in a more difficult spell for SA rugby that followed.
